So you have folks that have done everything to keep the level of student debt down - because it has been, up to now, basically non-dischargeable - like:
- not going to college, working a lower-paid or nasty & brutish job
- taking a bust-ass level of course load to graduate earlier rather than going on the 5- (or 6-) year plan
- not going to an expensive Boutique U, going to State U instead
- working while in school, or hustling with 2nd jobs afterwards to pay down the debt ASAP
- living a sparse style of living, not going on European "gap year", etc. so that a larger portion of income could go towards the debt
- letting other debt - e.g., home mortgage, car loan, credit cards, etc. - build up
And on top of this, PAYING TAXES so that the snowflakes that did JUST THE OPPOSITE get off scot-free in a better overall position.
