I will say this, out of the many jewelry stores I've been to (outside malls, except a few inside), Kay were the friendliest no matter which location, Jareds a close second, Zales last, then a few others LAST - eat my sh!t kinda last. It's an eerie span on the friendliness spectrum. Usually, people of the same profession behave a little similar, Jewelry isn't one of em, chain or not. The SMALL jewelers are the Least friendly in my opinion. It's like "what's up Your butt?" a diamond, ok, no humor.

I agree with this, that's the main explanation.

However, there seems to be a transfer of wealth going on from males to females. I don't have statistics to back this up, so I may be wrong, but that's the impression I get. I'm seeing more and more women as the main breadwinners. There's a lot of talk in the manosphere about guys dropping out of society because it doesn't offer them anything. I'm surprised that women aren't just buying themselves more diamonds to take the place of an engagement.

As far as business/career, talent/passion stuff aside, I believe that men put money first and status second.

I suspect women put status first and money second.

This is why a high-earning BigDave struggles with women. He’s a home run on the $, but car salesman sadly doesn’t have status bragging rights than today’s women crave.

A man doesn’t mind being a high-earning plumber (and rightly so). But women don’t think that way.
