Several. Three pistols, two rifles and a shotgun.

They were part of my life as a younger man. I still train/practice regularly which I enjoy. My oldest son enjoys going to the ranges with me. I've taught all three of my kids about them, how to use them and when and how to fade away from people that do not respect their safe use.

Advice - don't buy weapons until and unless you make the decision to use them effectively and safely. This means learning about them, practicing with them and keeping them from people don't respect them.

One rifle, one handgun for work. If you are wanting to buy a gun no matter what general kind or what you want it for, my advice:

- Touch as many as you can first, preferably shoot it but at least put your hands on it

- Research both online and talk to people who are familiar with the model or kind you are looking at

- Never ever let anyone talk you into one you are not comfortable with.

Guns are one of those things that people tend to be closed minded about and theirs will alway be king while every other kind is trash. Example: When I was a rookie cop I bet I had 10 other officers tell me to get a Glock and that I wasn't a man of a cop if I carried anything else, bla bla bla. I didn't like the Glock when I first put my hands on it. Ended up with a Smith and Wesson. Love it to death could hit my target blind with 7 missing fingers if I had to. But a Glock I probably couldn't hit a rabbit standing on the grass right below me. Get what feels right to you and keep frame.

Hell no.

I personally believe guns are far more of a hindrance than a help in today's society and would be a hypocrite if I had one or more.

Plus I have had my house burglarized before. If I had a gun and was stolen and fell into the wrong hands contributing to the plague of gun violence in Philadelphia I couldn't live with myself.

Advice: While I wish we could well regulate the ownership of guns in the United States I unfortunately don't think it's feasible at this time. I just ask that gun purchasers treat their guns like the life and death tool that they are.

I would never have bought it on my own, but my dad got me a $1,200 Kimber .45 :

It's the nicest gun I have ever fired. It feels like shooting a 9mm. I've shot an old Army .45 before, and it was like a hand cannon, with a giant recoil. The Kimber is nothing like that. My dad buys and sells guns all the time, and I have never shot anything of his that I like nearly as much. Both the Glock and Sig Sauer have this horrible trigger slop that I can't stand. You have to pull the trigger back half an inch or so before it fires.

Honestly, though. I can't see myself ever shooting someone. If I was mad enough to kill a person, I would just choke them to death. You also have a few minutes to change your mind after they pass out.

Never shot a gun before but have 0 desire to

The only thing a gun would do for me is increase my chances of getting killed. You'd have to pay me money to own and store one. If someone breaks into my house or tries to rob me, my life is more important than my stuff have at it

No. I don't think I need one. :)
THIS is her first post? A woman posting on a male forum? Did Karisa the Gun Grabber join So Suave just to show she is a retarded Liberal?

Karisa, what will you do if a large man tries to attack you? I'm 6'5" 240 and know how to fight, but you're probably not and probably don't. So you'll call other people who do carry guns and hope they get there in time? How much will that cost the taxpayers?

I might have a gun. Nobody knows. It's called Freedom. Try breaking into my house or forcing a vaccine on me and find out.

"I prefer not to create a virtual registry" should have been another poll option.

Never shot a gun before but have 0 desire to. If someone breaks into my house or tries to rob me, my life is more important than my stuff have at it
Did you think this one through? How does not having a gun help to protect your life? Many burglars will kill the homeowners in order to take their stuff. Try hanging this post on your front door and see what happens. Or maybe you live in NYC or Chicago (two of the most dangerous cities in America) where it's already implied.

So you don't think police should carry guns? Or are you admitting that certain, well trained, responsible people can indeed safely carry guns? If so, what makes you think only government workers are well trained and responsible? The opposite is far closer to the truth. Most police want law abiding citizens to be armed. You can protect yourself, your society and maybe protect them.

Gun grabbers don't hate guns. They hate guns in the hands of anyone besides the Government.

I want to get my gun license.

However, don't have one, don't plan on.

I like their look but a gun is more a collection pattern than have any practical use.

Beside here... you have limited choices

Yes, in a perfect world I only want police to carry guns. No I don't think police are always or even mostly well-trained and responsible but I also don't think the proliferation of firearms in the United States or elsewhere contributes to their training and responsibility. In fact, just the opposite. Police departments use gun violence as a reason to suspend rights and arm themselves to an even greater extent.

Knowing what I know about contemporary politics and our own proclivities for violence I suspect gun ownership would contribute to a deadly Civil War than actual civilian resistance to government. Certainly that scenario has occurred at least as often in the history of gun ownership.

And I believe that a high rate of relatively unchecked civilian gun ownership does lead to more violence which leads to more justification which leads to more police violence.

If I had a gun, it would be more likely to escalate an otherwise non-lethal situation into one than it would be to actually save my life. And the gun can also be used against me... intentionally or accidentally

By having a gun I'm just increasing my odds of dying. I would not hang a sign outside my door advertising I don't have a gun though, that's silly

I agree. The freedom to have guns is neat, but we'd be much safer if guns were outlawed. I personally see no inherent need to have guns anymore. This isn't 1789, if our government wants to oppress us we are screwed with or without guns. Technology has vastly changed

Americans guns by American citizens been killing more americans than terrorists and war since 1789.

Switzerland has more gun than the USA, yet no gun accident related.

In Serbia, tombs are more gun-crate than for actual people.

In Japan, if you are arrested with a gun... you basically get executed on the spot.... there is no gun violence, and they have strict laws.

In Canada, where I live, getting a gun is complicated and they have restricted systems.... we did have some accidents.

Culture plays a major role... USA culture is violent, often no education for gun-wielder, no responsibility, and mental illness create accidents. In other part of the world, everyone has military service, guns lock etc...

But if I had to pick a gun it would be this one:

Here the Ideal gun: The Igun.... its a iphone with 2 bullets charges for kids to use in self-defense:

https://idealconceal.com/

I would upload the jpg... but seems I can't..

So basically now every cellphone could be a gun... only in America

I agree about the culture aspect. There were 60 murders in Chicago over this past 3-day Memorial Day weekend. Chicago politicians built a welfare state to keep themselves elected. But pack enough jobless, illiterate young males in one place, and that is what creates crime. So then we justify our massive police/prison state. I live in the impoverished southern end of the state. Prison guard is one of the few decent jobs left.

Crime is how we manage to have what little economy we still have, from the street corner dealer, to the cop who arrests him, lawyers, court system workers, counselors, all the way to the prison guards. Crime is what feeds the beast that is the prison state.

I love when people say that guns are too dangerous for people to have, but when those people who are too flawed to have guns go and work for the Government (meaning on average they have lower IQ's and tend to be Sociopathic control freaks) that they suddenly become purely good humans who are incapable of doing wrong.

Yewki wants you to pay for her Prozac so she hates the fact you can defend yourself from the goons she is sending your way.

Anyone who thinks America could carry 20 Trillion in debt without someone coming to collect - unless we were armed to the teeth - is delusional. Guns are the only thing keeping America from total tyranny. It is the welfare lovers who want your guns.

Statistics show otherwise. Thousands of times each year, a burglar enters a house with a crude weapon like a crow bar, ready to kill the owner and take their stuff, and someone racks the slide on a shotgun. The would-be thief runs off. This is never reported because of Liberal Socialist Fascist Feminist SJW Communists who will then try to take the shotgun and whine about how this might have emotionally impacted the burglar and how it's not fair to the burglar, and that we should try to put ourselves in the burglar's shoes. But that requires doing research instead of just spewing out emotions like a girl.

I would not hang a sign outside my door advertising I don't have a gun though, that's silly
So you're admitting that if other people KNOW you don't have a gun, that makes you less safe? So you are admitting that the fact you MIGHT have a gun makes you more safe? Thanks for clarifying our point.
