Do you allow yourself to be introduced to girls?

Last night at a 21st party, I knew only 3 guys plus the birthday boy. However, those 3 guys had another 21st to go to and so were going to leave after an hour.

I was kinda glad though because it would force me to mingle. But when they were leaving, they realised that I'd be left 'alone', so one of them called over this girl to introduce me to her.

The chick was a 5.5 at best and it felt pretty awkward, as if I was specially introduced because I needed a babysitter to look after me in the absence of my friends. Either that or I was too shy to approach myself.

My friend jokingly says, "Peta, this is Arnie" (they call me this occasionally because i go to the gym three times a week)
Then all three of them are chiming in with stuff like, "Yeah he goes to the gym twice a day, he drinks protein shakes all the time, blah blah, blah" I couldn't get a word in edgeways and couldn't tell if she believed them or not.

Well as expected, it wasn't a great first impression, and she didn't look at me for the rest of the night! :D I'm damn glad she wasn't hot.

I don't mind walking up to a friend that is talking to a new person, saying a few comments, then being introduced, but a planned introduction seems very un-DJ-like to me.

How do you guys feel about this sort of thing?

Nothing to get worked up about, all that happens is you save 5, maybe 10 feet of walking distance, big deal.

Well if you are introduced it does break down the initial suspicion.

I notice in China people do it quite often, I suppose because 70% of people who approach you want to steal your money ;)

But its good to start.

I'm always the first to stick my hand out and introduce myself.

I consider it to be a very polite, and a very alpha type quality. Why the hell should you be shy? People are just people.

When at a party, I use my instincts on who i should introduce myself to...I don't just walk up to everyone. i make sure eye contact is met a few times before i initiate - guy or girl.

True it may sometimes break down the barrier of suspicion, but in my case it increased it because my friends made me come across as strange. But it could also be because she lacks social skills.

After that incident though, when approaching and introducing myself to others, guys and girls, people were more responsive. Except for this one guy who obviously didn't know how to interact with somebody he didn't know.

It was funny talking to one girl because even though she had a BF, she kept closing the distance between us and giving mad EC over a fairly long time period. The BF kept coming up and putting his arm around her and saying stupid AFC comments, trying to be funny and validate himself in front of me!

I played it cool though and acted as if I couldn't care less about stealing his GFs attention.

On leaving, I was pretty downcast once again though that all there was on offer were UGs and taken chicks. I didn't help that the bday boy's hot GF was sorta leaning on me drunkenly during the speeches.

Fvck I need a lay!

Edit: bad ass canadian - I didn't mean I was shy, i meant she may have got the impression I was shy and 'un-alpha' because I was introduced. And I couldn't even wait for EC in my situation, just had to approach or stand alone, simple as that.
