"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Should a girl be the one to bring up getting into a LTR or should a guy? If a guy does, doesn't automatically giver power in the beginning to the girl? If the girl does then the guy has the power up front? I think when a guy brings up something like that a girl will got all defensive and you will lose and look like a chump to her cause you look weak. I just seem to think that a guy will be in a better position at least in the beginning if the girl is asking to be with him and he therefore knows that she wants it and is not doing it cause she doesnt want to say no. Any other ideas?

It is girl's business to initiate LTR. Just like a guy's business is to approach.

In the only LTR i have ever been in I made it exclusive with her. However i find the common trend is that you shoudl let the girl do it for power purposes...

It really depends on the case.

I have been with a girl who i waited for her to make exclusive and she didnt but she expected me to...I never did as I didnt want it exclusive at the time anyways. That didnt work out.....

There is no rule but I would wait unless you are worried about another bloke boning her and making it exclusive before you.

Raising or Lowering commitment in relationships is the girl's job, since they're really the "gatekeepers" - Some guys out there will disagree with this, but in my and other experiences, this is true.

All the guy has to do is show interest/ask for dates, etc.

The last time i tried initiating, it didnt work out well. However we're still casual dating.

I agree with the others, it is more of a power struggle, nowadays its best to let them initiate it. in the meantime, assume the situation is casual and keep seeing other women on the side.

"She Laughed All Night. Then She Ghosted You. Here's Why."

Dinner ran three hours. She laughed at everything. You walked her to her car thinking this one's locked in.

Then: nothing. Two texts. No reply. What happened?

You did what most men do on a great date. You filled every silence, answered every question, and left her with nothing to wonder about. No mystery. Nothing to sit with when she got home.

Rule 3 of the "22 Rules" changes the ending: tell her a little, hold back the rest, and let her imagination do the chasing. The ghosting stops too.

I asked my last 2 LTRs to be exclusive. I'd have hated it if they had said something like, "let's be exclusive." (read: I don't want you banging any other girls)

Sure, girls will ask, "what is our status? bf/gf? dating?", but that's not setting the relationship status.

IMO, the guy tells them the status of the relationship.

If the relationship status is so dicated by the woman, then why is it that a man proposes marriage?

yea i dont get that either about the man should propose for marriage and a girl should initiate ltr. But from my experiences everytime i had tried to intiate it would back fire and the girl would have a power trip. I guess the best way would to keep on showing interest. plus if u ask for ltr you look like a needy person but i guess asking for marriage is different. I want to discuss an ltr with this girl but im scared she might get defensive. I guess the best offense is defense.

damn, i'll never do that again... i meet a girl the last few weeks of last semseter (college) and we started hangin' out, just the two of us... casual stuff... we end up doing a little kissing one night and i'm like "so what are we?... i guess where dating now?..." she has this kinda shrug the shoulders look and says "i dont know" well apparently that was "too needy"... as she now has a "really busy schedule this semseter".....

take the advice... the only job you have is to set up the dates and pursue the physical stuff... let her pursue the "relationship"

A man or woman can control the status of the relationship, but it'll always be the woman that is the person "gatekeeper" who allows the relationship to raise higher or lower.

Marriage is the highest form of commitment between two people, Eric Live assumes that because a man is asking for marriage he is in control. Really? He still has to wait for an answer a woman which makes her the person who is the one who actually the one who may allow the relationship to commit higher.

Go read Anti-Dump's posts.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.
