"Stop Asking Your Friends What to Text Her"

Your buddy Dave has been single for three years and thinks "hey u up" is a valid strategy. Your other buddy Mike just got dumped and told you to "just be yourself."

You showed them her text. You asked them to decode the emoji. You drafted four responses and sent the screenshot to the group chat for a vote.

She's been waiting forty minutes.

Put the phone down. Stop crowdsourcing your love life. Type something that sounds like you. Hit send. Then go do literally anything else with your evening.

Always reading lots of great articles and reports on here about guys getting girls by being lots of fun to be around. They're dancing, they're smiling, they're doing fun activities and being the life of the party.

But what of men of my ilk? I'm a low-key guy - always have been, always will be. This shouldn't imply I'm not enjoyable to be around: I'm quick-witted and I typically attract women with my humor. However, no matter how much I want to improve my DJ abilities, nothing will ever make me want to get on the floor and dance or be a peacock in a large group.

This is simply my personality type and it suits me: I work in the arts, I'm really sarcastic... I try not to be too brooding, but I certainly don't smile much. I smile when something is funny but I generally have a pretty neutral facial expression. As far as things like dancing - sure, if I was really motivated to pick up a certain girl I'd go for it and dance like an idiot. But it would be terribly misleading - it may get a girl home that night but there's no way I could maintain the facade of a high energy personality for long.

If you were to reply here and say, "CWord, you have absolutely no choice: you have to hit that dance floor, you have to do a bunch of different, exciting activities on the first date..." then I'd probably do it...

But the thing is, I'd feel like I'm not being true to myself - in addition to the fact that I'd be selling the girl a false bill of goods. I'm on the precipice of 30, I go to pubs not clubs, I'm more of a lone wolf than someone with a large core group of friends, and George Clooney is my spirit animal. That's me. But I also want to date more women. Is one really in conflict with the other?

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.
