Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Okay... this is from an Army vet of several conflicts.
To MOST women, your military experience is interesting, and sure they like seeing you in uniform as long as it looks good on you. Some think the scars are 'cool' some hate them... it's about 50-50. Unless she was raised in an environment where military service is part of her norm (Her dad served and she grew up on military bases, or has a lot of male relatives that served) she isn't going to care if you are or were in the military, unless you have or are doing something really cool like a fighter pilot.
Women like men that are disciplined, mentally tough, able to push past fear, and physically fit. Being a grunt infantryman will teach you this, but there is a high probability that you can also suffer from PTSD, it isn't a coincidence that suicide is high among post-service vets, or end up with a debilitating injury. It is the traits you develop in serving that they like... your actual service is not relevant. It is the biggest con that the military plays on young men, that somehow the very act of being in the military is somehow attractive to young women. Being physically or mentally broken is not attractive to women.
Military service can build you up: but it can also tear you down. FYI, I never talk about my military experience unless it happens to come up in conversation, and with chicks... I NEVER talk about the bad sh1t, I just tell funny stories, and you will get a lot of funny and interesting stories. But they will NEVER hear about me zipping up friends in body bags, laying low in a ditch in Panama and bullet fly inches above my body, being in a vehicle hit by a road side bomb, or any of the horrible bvllsh1t that happens in a war zone.
There is a reason why vets seldom talk about combat, because combat really sucks... and it is almost masochistic re-living that cr@p.
