This is not going to be a very Political correct post, but here goes.

Imagine you are of Japanese descent and Japan and the Asian countries are the leading countries in areas of economy, military, education, and health. In the last decade there has been an increasing influx of "whites" from the since-impoverished Western nations. You are accustomed to traditional Japanese traditions of bowing, kneeling to eat, speaking Japanese, and an overall respect for peace and quiet.

One day you come to realize your neighborhood isn't the same as it once was. Your local grocery stores have been replaced by giant and obnoxious "Whole Foods" and "Wal-Marts." As you walk down your once peaceful street, you cross paths with many new-to-town "whites" speaking a language you can't understand and in a manner that's much more obnoxious and "off-putting" than you're used to. As they walk by, they don't even acknowledge your existence or show any intent to be involved in things you care about. Your favorite restaurant goes out of business and is replaced with an "Applebees" offering nothing of your favorites and filled with "whites" you don't understand. As you start to notice more "whites" than Japanese in your neighborhood an overwhelming sense of alienation and isolation overcomes you and you miss the neighborhood you once felt so homely in.

According to your argument, you wouldn't feel any desire to relocate to a place more familiar to you. You'd stay put and learn English so you could communicate with foreigners who moved into your neighborhood who felt no need to learn Japanese to communicate with you. You'd try going to "Applebee's" and shove that sh*t down your throat until you learned to like it.

Of course, you wouldn't. You and most anyone else would leave and move somewhere they found more comfortable for them.. somewhere more familiar to your ways of life with people you could relate to.

That book is about a black man's life as a immigrant in Japan, but he adapted and respected their customs. He did not bring his way of life over there, at the expense of the natives way of life. He also spoke in their language. So he was therefore liked over there. It's also funny its seen as the "whites" segregating themselves.. I don't know where you're from but if you've lived in a big city you'll surely know that part of the problem is the settling of immigrants who in fact, segregate themselves by refusing to learn the language, participate in Western entertainment and events, and insisting things be done the way their culture or religion wants them to be done. California and some of Texas is already beyond recognition with this issue. a friend has told me that Houston TX is 70% Mexicans. Half the blllboards in Houston are in SPANISH ONLY! These people hate Western Society, but yet want western lifestyles. If anybody has been paying attention to Europe people have already began to push back.

Immigration in the UK is fu*ked! It's not about "ducking and running" or feeling some sense of entitlement and not wanting to compete..

It's about being able to relate to your community and maintaining a certain sense of familiarity with it.

There's an entire city/towns in Europe that's been taken over by mostly Indians.. You can drive down major streets and it literally looks like India. I mean, there's Indian writing on the store signs of Indian-only food grocery stores, clothing stores, etc.

How is a white person or any other culture/colour of person supposed to be able to feel a sense of relation to such a community? It's understandable why people move away. If there is going to be diversity then everybody has to be living the same culture and speaking the same language, but people cry racism if somebody points this out.

NYC is a perfect example of good vs bad immigration. Most of the foreign culture in NYC is from Jews, Italians, Asians, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, and Dominicans. This is good immigration. But if you want to use "predominatly black" logic . Birmingham, ATL&Miami are the top tier cities in the South and a lot of blacks live in those areas. Most people grow up in a certain environment (either diverse or not) and they grow accustom to it. When that environment changes it makes them very uncomfortable. Some can adjust while others can't.

For instance, I grew up in a large metro area that is very racially and culturally diverse. Therefore, I became used to that and saw it as "the norm". When I first went away to college where diversity was dramatically less than what I was used to, it was very uncomfortable and alien to me. But I adjusted to it after a year and ultimately grew a lot from the experience. Some people can adjust, while others can't.

Diversity works when people are flexible and adaptable. Some people refuse to adjust (like many immigrants for instance). And yes.. culture is a bigger issue than race by far.

This is why "white flight" continues all over the country. Now we see more minorities moving into the suburbs all over the country while whites with money move back to the cities. The poor whites move out to rural areas rather than stay among culturally different "brown people" or people who speak a different language and can't really communicate with them. What happens when whites run out of places to run? Most likely they will be forced to stay put and adjust.

While the white race maintains the highest social status in the world, most whites need a certain level of education and money to distance themselves from immigrants and lower middle class to poor neighborhoods which have high minority populations. Poor communities are all on the rise simply because the population is on the rise. Reaching the top becomes harder and harder the more people you have to compete with.

A big motivator to "work hard" is so you can afford to live far away from the poor. The more you have... the more you have to lose. This is what no one tells you about success. This also explains why many whites today are so angry.

Generally its the decline of "white privilege". The idea that a white person can go to college, get good grades and still end up flipping burgers next to Carlos and Tyrone because they can't find a job.

Here is my point:

Lower status groups always want to raise their status (feminism anyone?). High status groups want to KEEP their status. This creates conflict and competition which can make harmonious diversity difficult to achieve.

However...what most people fail to realize is a lack of diversity doesn't make any of the problems caused by diversity go away. Human beings will always find a reason to compete and fight. They will always form groups and clans: Fat vs. skinny. Educated vs. uneducated. Attractive vs. ugly. Rich vs. poor. Cool vs. nerdy. etc. :crackup:

The Soviet Unions unique brand of socialism and communism didnt allow people to not get along. And the government did try and supress certain aspects of unique culture and religion.

So no, the USSR didnt do things right. They simply forced people to get along by stifling civil liberties. It is the same issue here in America, particularly the southwest. Asians, Jamacains,foreign Africans, Haitians, Dominicans, Puerto Ricans, Cubans, etc all assimilate well into the culture.

Mexicans on the other hand wave their flag, wear shirts and backpacks with Mexico on it, hang the Mexican flag on their porch, put the Mexican flag on the back of their cars, It's ridiculous.
