On a side note, I'm wondering if this will have any effect on his team (evidently, it could be anyone next year) as he tends to set the tone that character is an important attribute. Will players look at him trading in his wife as being hypocritical?

Actually, Payton had been daily commuting from Dallas to New Orleans with a private jet, which is about 2 hours (total commute from his home to the Saints facility) each way - and in which he obviously can be in contact with the rest of the coaches & management by phone, and can review film or whatever on his laptop - something he couldn't do when he was driving his 40 minute commute when he was in the New Orleans area.

It's interesting looking at the contrast with Payton and the QB Drew Brees, who really is a man of character, very happily married to his wife, who seems to be continually pumping out cute little kids that Brees can kiss after winning the Super Bowl, making all the commentators go "aw..."
