I think it's optimistic to assume that police would take the time to verify video before arresting someone—especially when racial bias is involved. Unfortunately, in both the U.S. and other places, systemic racism can lead to a situation where the word of a white individual is given far more weight than that of a Black or Brown person. This isn't always about incompetence—it's sometimes about deep structural bias that leads to false arrests and unjust outcomes. The way ‘Stand Your Ground’ or ‘castle doctrine’ laws are applied often reflects this imbalance, favoring some and punishing others. If the individual in question had simply been white, this incident might never have happened. That should concern all of us

I think this is not so much racial bias, but incel bias - i.e., the alleged perp was deemed to be the type of ugly incel that would be a pedo, so it made sense; had he been Chad-tier, folks would say "this doesn't fit".
