I'm a huge fan of the show.

Everyone here needs to watch it not only because its the most compelling television series to come around in a long time but because it shows how two of the most dangerous Cluster B personality disorders play out in the world.

The two disorders of the four Cluster B that the Dexter series has represented are Anti Social Personality Disorder also known as psychopathy/sociopathy in the Dexter character himself.

The second disorder represented is Borderline Personality Disorder in the Lila character.

As soon as DVD's of the series are released I will be an owner.

Currently I watch past and current episodes on youtube since loyal fans just keep on posting them as soon as youtube deletes them.

I get Showtime as well so I watch it in its proper location but I just love the series and character so much I have to watch the shows over again on youtube.

Its almost a shame that the series creators killed off Lila and Doakes for all the entertainment value they bring but it was necessary to represent sociopathy and severe BPD correctly.

Lila's need for her broken sense of love was so strong she was willing to murder over it by killing Doakes. As a Borderline she has some feelings and empathy left within her but the need to protect Dexter her source of love is so strong that she ignores any senses telling her murder is wrong and kills an innocent man like it was nothing. Real BPD's have been known to kill over their sense of love as well such as driving a car through a former lover's house if the guy or girl dumps them. They are that crazy. So just know that the portrayel of Lila is brilliant because it is not over the top at all. It is realistic of severe Borderline Personality Disorder.

As for Dexter the portrayel is dead on too for a sociopath raised a certain way. Dexter's adopted father Harry was a good man but he became corrupt in the sense that he turned to vigilante justice because he became so sick of criminals getting away with murder. Since Dexter had seen horrible murder as a child that turned his emotions off and turned him into a sociopath Harry realized that Dexter would want to kill as he grew older because of the repressed anger at what he had seen as a child so with Harry's corrupted belief system and also as a means to train Dexter to express his sociopathy in a societal productive way he trained Dexter how to track down and kill murderers and not get caught. He gave Dexter a code to live by to save him from being exposed for what he is and stopped from doing the work Harry trained him to do.

A sociopath that is not given such guidance growing up who becomes a murderer will not murder for the same reasons as Dexter's character who was given a code to live by. In fact another sociopath if he were informed of how Dexter is following a normal person's code of how to murder morally would find it ridiculous and be disgusted at Dexter for thinking he is doing a good deed. Not because the sociopath has any moral indignation over it but because he would see Dexter as being pathetic for carrying out someone else's orders rather than following his own path in life.

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

I've only been able to catch the middle of whatever season it is on CBS on Sundays. It's AWESOME!!! I really want to see the unedited episodes though to get the full experience. Probably the best show I've seen in awhile

Didn't even know they had multiple seasons of the show. Thought this season was the first. Its one of the few good shows on since the writers strike so I watch it.

Typical murder mystery w/ a serial killer doing the detective work.

Last season there was a show called Life, where a cop was framed for murder, spent 10 years in jail and won a law suit, made $50 million, and was now a detective solving murders.

This season we have another murder mystery called New Amsterdamn where the guy can't die until he finds his true love.

Not bad shows, they are entertaining. But the plots to get old after a while.

Downloaded/watched all of the shows in about a week right after midterms in February...
It's such an amazing show. I find myself identifying with some of his (less minor) problems and have really grown attached to his character. The writers' ability has fleshed it out and made it a show that the viewers actually care about. When I finished the second season I just sat at my computer and wondered what would happen next.
Luckily a 3rd season has been confirmed and will probably air in September! :D

Wiesman, I've started to watch New Amsterdam as well and I find it quite good so far. Definitely not as in-depth as they could be, but the little connections they make to his previous lives and his overall personality make the show interesting.
