Most of us want everyone to like us (even strangers on the street) but you have to realize unless you are the ugliest, poorest, most untilligent bastard out there, there is probably someone who envies you right now for something. It could be a relative, friend, acquaintance or stranger you saw at the bar.
People can be envious for just about anything:
Your job
Your bonus
Your car
The fact you a few inches taller
Your athletic ability
Your artistic or musical ability
Your full head of hair
Your prettier girlfriend
Your better looking son/daughter
Your "superior" facial features
Your eye color
etc, etc.
People can be envious of you for just about ANYTHING/EVERYTHING
I guess my point is, NONE OF THIS MATTERS if you LIKE YOURSELF.
You ever seem to notice when you are happy and confident/content with your life you don't really seem to care too much what others think?
If you have low self-esteem to begin with, you seek others approval and if others don't like you (as everyone does have someone who doesn't) it will make you even more depressed.
