Cops are out of control. You know things are bad when just a speeding ticket can get you killed by a cop now a days. They are blood thirsty and just 1 wrong thing you do you can either get killed or get your butt kicked. Talking to a cop can be a life and death situation if you don't talk to a cop as nicely as possible.
And it doesn't end there. Cops hold grudges they know what you drive so don't think you acting tough and pissing them off is something they will easily forget. They pull you over once, put some drugs in your car, take you in, you're framed. Sounds extreme? It happens all the time and there's plenty of cases of this just look it up.
Your best bet is to talk to a cop like you would talk to your supervisor at work.
I understand your sentiment, but there are a few good ones out there.
Last year I was on the road with an expired registration and inspection. I turned onto this road near my house and drove right into a cop stopping cars and checking stickers. I had never once seen any cop doing this before at theis spot for the past 6 years.
He asks me to pull over. I hand him my paperwork (at the time I didn't know my registration had run out but I knew about inspection). He told me, "Your registration is expired, too. You shouldn't be on the road at all".
Showed my tender white underbelly and sheepishly told him my back was broken a few months ago in an accident (true) and I was just now only getting back on the road, that my car was going in for inspection in 2 days.
He handed me back my paperwork and said, "Have a nice day, sir".
I was shocked. The guy was genuinely nice and he empathized with my plight. I thanked him and told him I'll never forget the kindness.
He never would have been so lenient had I been a wise-ass and acted upon what I EXPECTED to happen. The best part about this experience is that my genuine display of appreciation certainly will encourage him to repeat the neceness that he showed.
Just like in any other profession, there are bad and good, but it is true that many thugs become cops. If they weren't cops they'd be out committing crimes themselves. I know I'm stating the obvious. I'm just glad there are a few good eggs out there among the bad.
