"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

I've been [officially] in no contact with my ex since Feb 21, even though I have refused to see her since the end of January. She has texted me several times. Last Saturday she said asked how I was and said "Miss you" and she just texted me again this morning asking How's Life. I chose to respond last Saturday as I was in an exotic location and decided to let her know that I was staring at a gorgeous ocean (while she was sitting here in the cold northeast with her dorky AFC seeming new boyfriend).

For a quick background - we were friends first, who occasionally hooked up, and then for about 5 months were basically a couple - hooking up all the time, hanging out every weekend, not seeing others. This was until she decided to end things, but is very persistent about still wanting me as a friend. She has a new boyfriend and is out of her mind if she thinks I will be her friend and hang out with them ever. We do have mutual friends, which presents a slight problem, but I've been keeping my distance from all.

I'm just really, genuinely confused about why she texts me things like she misses me and asking how my life is going. Shouldn't she be more interested in her new relationship? Do you think she secretly thinks she made a mistake? I would never take her back after what she did, the trust is shattered and I lost all respect for her, but I'm just wondering why she is doing this to me. Its really frustrating. Does anyone have advice on how to handle this?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

She is a typical woman. She wants attention, especially now because you stopped supplying it. You said you don't care, so the best way to handle this is to delete her number and not respond.

If you run into her in person, act civil but act as if you would to one of her guy friends.

Lastly, make sure you're too busy gaming other girls to worry about this!

I know I have to get back out there, I happen to be sick right now with a cold/sore throat and I am also in the process of moving into a new place so its not the easiest time to be out meeting new girls. In a few weeks when I have everything in place I definitely will be.

I'm not going to respond to the text. I just don't want to come off as a sore loser.

Another option is to put your ego through the ringer and act all desperate and clingy and AFC, just to get it out of your system. Ham it up so as to inflict the maximum amount of cringe worthiness in you. These are strength building exercises. See how much it matters to you so you can in effect let those things lose their hold.

I dunno if i'm making any sense but try to understand it as if you are making the worst case scenario happen. Its a way more controlled way to **** with your own ego in order to strengthen it, I mean the opportunity is there so why not take it. Taken in the right light it is also pretty funny.

Text her some Celine Dion lyrics.

If you don't respond you won't come off as a "sore loser" she will just forever wonder what happened to you. Keeping her hamster spinning is a good thing. You don't owe her anything.

"She's Out of Your League"

You've said it a hundred times. Maybe a thousand. And every time you say it, you train your brain to freeze the next time she walks into the room.

Leagues are a myth invented by guys who are scared of women.

She's a person. She has bad breath in the morning. She picks songs she can't sing in the shower. She overthinks her own texts.

Walk over. Say something. The league dissolves the second you open your mouth.

Hahah, "My heart will go onnn" ...I think I will pass on that, but thanks for the laugh. I'm not going to give her the satisfaction! Its just very annoying that she expects me to fit into whatever little box is convenient for her at the time. I'm not going into the friendship box, she can go fxck herself. How much more could she possibly want from me? JC!
