Computer HELP!: I think i might have a worm or virus in my computer!!

OK, i downloaded the newest AVG and it removed 15 out of 17 infections. The other 2 programs it couldnt removed so i uninstalled 1 of the programs that were infected completely.

I think its still there because it still redirects me to other sites when i click on the links i googled.

What now??

I think now is the best time to go to the site I suggested. What they do there is look at the logs from the anti-malaware programs they tell you to run and they can tell where the remanants of the mal-ware are and how to totally clean it off.

As far as disabling everything i dont recognize...im not much for computers so i couldn't do that. so i just ended the task for Anti Virus XP 2008. After that i download all 3 programs and they detected 17,60..etc infections and removed them.

I still am "redirected" to other sites or redirected to the Anti Virus XP 2008 site when i use google or yahoo and still cant download anything without only downloading about less than a mb of it without it saying finished.

Should i just take the time to back up all my important files and then reformat?

No not yet. This sh!t wont let me biew some wesites and sometimes i have to refresh to view a full page. Sometimes when i browse through sites, my Firefox warns me that i landed on a "Attack site" which is the fvckin Antivrus XP 2008 site.

Man they should fvckin find the owners of this site a sue them like they did the MySpace spam guys!!!! ARGHHH!!! :box:

Wow, 1,760 infections? I hope that was a typo or your computer was in serious trouble. As for not disabling what you don't recognize, you shouldn't be too worried as you can always re-enable what you want to turn on. The reason I told you to do that is because if you don't then the Anti-Virus XP is turning itself on when ever your computer starts making it more difficult to be removed. Also you don't know what else you have running.

Try using Opera browser if you can. Check your hosts file as well. Firefox shouldn't be affected by this, unless the host file is messed up, and is redirecting traffic.

No i meant- 17 then 60 on the other spyware remover. The AntiVirus XP 2008 doesnt run when i start the computer anymore but i am still being redirected on websites and cant download anything.
