"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

So, we go on a date, it goes fine..she laughs, kino, kiss...I want to isolate and f*ck...BUT my freaking dorm is nasty. I live with 3 guys and one of them is a **** who hasn't gone to his classes all semester...he is dirty, stinky, SUB-HUMAN (as I call him). He spreads crap all over the living room and doesn't use the trash can. Heck, he ran out of toilet paper so he used his hands...

There is NOTHING I can do about him...housing policy is crap (I tried).

So, to cut it short...girls cannot see my place!

I feel awkward saying "Lets go to YOUR place" unless they invite...

What can I do about it?

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

If she asks to go to my place herself...

Thats not how it happens. I have to offer...and it seems I have to offer to go to HER place, which makes it awkward...

Your roommate is an unclean layabout whose foul stench is subsidized by his equally filthy parents.

Why not express this to the girl and counter-offer her place? That doesn't sound awkward to me. That sounds like a plan!

You should also either persuade your roommate to clean up his act, or petition for his removal or relocation from the dorm.

"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

agreed, he sounds like a friggen dirty skanky human being. I told my roommate about him and he screamed, "Ohhhh... that's worse than Geoff!!!"

I live with 3 other guys in my apartment and its pretty nasty. But, if you bring a girl back to your place and she is truely interested, she isnt gonna leave just because your place is nasty. Just say your roommates are slobs, and get back to business.

I live with 3 other guys myself, and it can look pretty ****ed up at times. I agree that it's kinda embarresing to take girls home when it looks like ****. Even though they won't comment on it, doesn't mean they don't think to themselves. I asked a female friend of mine what she would think if I brought her home and it looked like it did at that time. She said she would probably wonder if either of us cared about our hygiene at all and if we even bothered to change boxers every day..

To the original poster; You should definitly confront your roomate and tell him to get his act together. Don't be afraid to say what you mean. If he won't listen then maybe you should try to be relocated or kick him out or something. When I feel like things are getting out of hand here at home, I tell the guys that we need to shape up! Then it gets better for a while, until we have to have yet another peptalk :)
