There are STRICT dress codes for getting into clubs in Las Vegas...or so I thought. Over the last year or so I've seen a drastic swing away from the standard collared shirt and casual dress shoe. You can still wear suits to night clubs but there are now documented alternatives (As declared by the director nightclubs for the casino i work in) for you too choose from! I'm very excited about this because although I've got the art of the dress shirt and jeans down, I'm always glad to know I can rock a different style should the mood strike me.
Firstly shoes.
I went shopping for some more apparel for the upcoming summer session out here and I noticed something in the sketchers store. They have completely moved away from the standard hard leather black clubbing shoes of old. They now carry the standard trainer, work boots, and two new catigories of shoe. The first is the Sport Fusion shoe which is the brown/black leather cuts of their tennis shoe line (which will get you into clubs). This is common and many companies make this class of shoe now days. The darker colors of the shoes, throw off the doormen enough for you to slide in. The other type is the Urban Track shoe. For the most part this is a scaled back trail shoe . Either way the standard for clubs is not solid leather hard bottom shoes anymore. And the new ones are designed with maximum comfort in mind.
Shirts have changes as well. Companies like affliction, sinful, monarchy etc etc have raised the bar for t-shirts. Though some of them cost upward of 70 dollars, shirts like this will get you into a club. The big thing is the more print the better. This has opened the door for everyone to wear t-shirts however. I saw a guy in a transformers tshirt yesterday just because there were characters everywhere, it is now acceptable with which to get into a club. If there is minimal print on the shirt (I dunno, you wanna be superman or something) you must still wear a sports coat. to get in.
Pants haven't changed that much. Slacks or jeans seem to be the staple of the club atmosphere still. There aren't that many other varieties of pants you'd want to wear into a nightclub anyway honestly. There are so many urban companies that make jeans that it's unlikely it will ever go out of style. I prefer traditional jeans but the new age with the print on the pockets and legs doesn't turn my stomach completely. Some simply have more studs in them which is okay as well.
It's interesting how fashion more or less simplified itself for the club industry. T-shirts and tennis shoes/ trail shoes are IN again. Here's to casual clubbing reborn with style AND comfort hand in hand once more!
