"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Hi All,

I want to improve my conversation skills. I'm not interested in techniques and scripts. That's not my goal. My goal is to improve my natural confidence, charisma and ability to hold a conversation that peaks a woman's interest.

I've read articles on here where someone said charisma, confidence and conversation skills cannot be learned but I think that's bullsh*t. When I first started work I was really shy and only spoke when I needed to. Fast forward a couple of years and I can have a conversation with any workmate. Outside of work, such as in the street or a shop is a different story.

I've also made some friends with women I used to work with.

I know there are a lot of people on here who have been down this exact path. What did you learn that helped you become more confident and charismatic?

And to the guys who have natural confidence and excellent communication skills, please pull your confidence apart and provide some tips on how to be more confident.

I'm definitely pleased with the progress I've made but now want to bring my conversation abilities and confidence to the next level. When I start a conversation with a work colleague things are okay, nothing spectacular. Sometimes they agree to lunch but not much else.

Because I don't have the mindset that enables me to be totally confident I have trouble moving the interaction forward.

And and all advice would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks

"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

Read "How to win friends and influence people" for charisma and conversation skills. Also read the biographies of men who were charismatic. Also read some books on bodylanguage.

For confidence, do things you are proud of.
