hey,i am in kayaking(canoeing) which needs strength and endurance...we train once a week,2.4 km run,3 sets of 30 pushups/50 situps and 3 sets of 6 pullups(all these will be steadily increased every few weeks)...i was wondering if i do weight training, wther i would be overtraining due to my canoeing training.

No you won't be overtraining. In fact if you train like that, you won't be able to canoe properly in even 3 years from now.
This is what training looks like:
Two workouts daily, 3 hours a day
On average, you kayak 20-30 km daily
Run 5 km daily
And do some weightlifting after the workout
When the weather is bad, you play soccer/basketball or go to gym.
Sunday is off.
I understand your goals are different, but your kayak "training" is nothing. Knock yourself out in the gym.
