Hey guys.

I'm looking for a stylish new digital camera to get for my family. I saved up around $500 bucks over the last few months for it.

Here is what I was thinking:

However, I'd like your reccommendations too. The camera above has a big ass screen, good MP and zoom, and looks hella cool. So yea, I was thinking that one. Any suggestions?

btw, something thin is preferable because the one I have now is liike 1 inch thick, 2 inches high and 3 inches wide (about).

Funny thread title... Stick with optical zoom - 3x is about right for the type of stuff you'll probably be using it for. You could even pick up a cheaper one with less megapixels... when you think about it, the only reason you'd get a 5mp camera is to make huge reprints... and how often will you be using the full 5mp? Odds are you'll have it set to "fine" instead of "extra fine" (unless you buy a huge memory card), which will put the MP at around 3. I'd recommend a 3mp camera, set to "extra fine", and you save yourself an extra hundred or two. Nothing wrong with the Sony's, but you might also want to look into the Canon digital ELPH line as well.

Best Buy, CompUSA, Circuit City, Ritz Camera (or any other camera shop for that matter)... there's tons of places to check out cameras. Try before you buy!

YO!! ^^^^^^ I just bought that one. I spent like 3 hours at microcenter, bestbuy and circuit city. This one turned out to be the best. IT was between this one and the sony black one with video mpeg 4 crap.

but I'm lookin for a camera not a camcorder. So I got this one...I'm reading the manual right now. I'mso happy aobut this. It's sexy as hell.
