That's why body count don't matter and you shouldn't ask it anyways.

Once it's past 4-5 it doesn't matter anyway because the woman most probably has mental issues and you shouldn't get in a relationship with her because of that, not the high body count per se (which is just one manifestation of those mental issues).
The reason you ask about body count is twofold: 1. to get to know her
2. to establish how reliable and trustworthy she is. For instance during the BC conversation she will mention her past boyfriends and some details about those relationships. But then on some other days, while discussing totally unrelated topics, you find out about other guys or she says something that doesn't match up with what she told you in the BC talk.
