I think there's a good chance martial arts training would have saved his life.

I've trained open-hand defense against a knife. It's not that big of a deal, at least with a solid background to start. A good instructor will tell you it's not magic like the movies - you will get cut. But you're not going to die. Panic probably killed him as much as anything - it makes you bleed out a lot faster than staying calm.

Yup, you will get cut in a knife fight 100% of the time. A gun would have been better.

But whats worse, getting stabbed ten times to death or a divorce?
