"The Kiss of Death Mistake"

You replay the conversation at 2 a.m. She texted back fast yesterday. Today, nothing. Was that smile friendly or flirty? What did the shoulder touch mean?

Every hour you spend decoding her signals drains your confidence and hands her the controls. Women can sense that insecurity from across the room — and it repels them.

One of the "22 Rules" kills the obsession on the spot: assume she likes you, and act accordingly. Sounds too simple. Works anyway.

Her interest tends to rise to meet your expectations. Psychologists call it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

For quite a while now I've been trying to become a DJ in a half-assed way. I've just been reading threads here, and trying to apply that knowlege whenever I hit on a girl. At first this worked because I was such an AFC that I was improving more and more each time I hit on a girl. Now I've finally got off my ass and begun the bootcamp.

Yesterday I finished week 1. I thought getting 50 hello's would be harder than it actually was. Since I'd already done a lot of work on my own (and with some success) I had only a small amount of tension when I began greeting people. After I got the first few though, it was really easy and even pretty fun.

I also made eye contact with a ton of people. I wouldn't be surprised if it was over 100.

I also hit on 2 girls:

In a grocery store, I saw an HB7 that I'd eyed for a while but never talked to. I'm a college student, and when I lived in the dorms last year she used to work at the front desk of my dorm building. I got in the cashier's line behind her and started talked to her. The conversation flowed pretty well, but when I asked her if she'd like to have coffee next week, she said she had a boyfriend. The thing about this is that I COMPLETELY forgot to give her any more eye contact than I normally would.

Later that same day, there was another HB7 on the bus. (Most would probably rate her an 8 or 9, but she was too skinny for my taste). I was checking her out for a while, and she was staring out the window, so I knew it was unlikely I could get eye contact before talking to her. I moved to a seat that was closer to her (but not like right next to her - still outside of her personal space). Before moving, I thought of something to say to her, which was, "You know, those are really thin flip flops." (Her sandals were REALLY thin; I don't know how anyone could find them comfortable). I talked to her for a while, and got decent eye contact, but the conversation was broken and stilted. I think she wasn't comfortable talking to a stranger on the bus, or she was shy. I asked her if she'd like to meet me for coffee, even though I knew there was almost no chance of success. She was like, "Um, probably shouldn't do that."

There was also a guy at a bus stop that I'd seen at a party before. I talked to him, something I normally wouldn't have done.

I also had a job interview today and noticed that I was MUCH more calm and confident. The position was for teaching computer programming and/or software testing at a place that I'd describe as kind of like a private community college. I didn't get much eye contact at first, because 99% of the questions were technical, not personal, and I was always looking off somewhere while thinking. However, after a while the interview changed to just conversation, and I was able to get a lot of good eye contact there. The interview went pretty well, but I still have a second interview, which will probably be done over the phone since it takes me 3 buses (about 1 hour) to get there.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.
