What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

I think Bono is great, but I tend to think of people like Lou Graham from FOREIGNER, Freddy Mercury from QUEEN, and Dennis Deyoung from STYX whenever I think of GREAT Rock singers.
Most of the guys I just mentioned exhibited a range of vocal ability that the "average" rock singer just doesn't have.
To me, screaming is NOT singing. A lot of this reverb, cacophony-laden, look who opened the garage and let out the band styled shyt that's passing for singing these days is LAUGHABLE.
I'm a huge U2 fan because they are old school, yet they keep it fresh. And the power of any good rock-style, singer's voice is demonstrated by his ability to sing AND scream while STILL maintaining the melodious quality that any other musical instrument would have.
But having said ALL that, I think that Bono is the shyt---mainly due to the vocal power that he has and the subjects that he and U2 sing about.
To me, what impresses me about Bono is the EMOTION in his voice and the phrasing of his words as he sings. I WILL say this though:
I don't think there is ANYBODY that is his equal in pure vocal emphatic-ness except for the legendary LED ZEPPLEN frontman Robert Plant.

Actually, falsetto was only ONE vocal style that Freddy Mercury sang in. His vocal versatility was one of the things that made him unique to the rock world.
He was FAR more than just a "rock" singer. That group did so many different genres of music on each album that it was impressive. Not many rock groups could do justice to disco, soul, funk, opera, spanish concertos, rock and roll, rock-a-billy, gospel, and blues AT WILL.
And that type of musical versatility is sorely missing in the majority of rock music offerings today.
Anybody else here remember when rock music was ART, and an album was a cohesive unit that told a complete story?
And oh yeah, another great rock singer that I would put up there with Bono is Brad Delp from the group BOSTON.

Bono is a ****, i wish he would finally dissapear up his own arse once and for all.
Freddy was amazing and a better singer than just about any of them. But you really have to love the vibe or its boring.
Bono has an extremely unique voice, and he has to go close to being one of the greatest, but I agree U2 started to disappoint, I feel that Edge led them down mostly, stopped writing intriguing rock and roll, became far too sunny and schmaltzy,(and what the hell was that 'get on you boots'?) also Bono has struggled with his range, that was never a problem for him before.
Robbert Plant was awesome, say no more. But also I think John and Paul deserve mentions, particularly John, he makes his voice perfect for whatever style.

Bono had the best voice in rock n roll from the early 80's (War, Boy, October, Wide Awake in America, Joshua Tree years) through Achtung Baby.
By the time they did the Pop album in the late 90's (garbage), Bono was starting to lose it and none of their millenium albums have impressed me.
But I still think you guys should dig back and give that old U2 a shot, that early 80's U2 sound (simple structure arrangements with ambient guitars) was really ahead of its time and I can hear that influence in so many of the big "pop" bands of today.

Who else can match his ephemeral scream in The Grudge? Who else is as poetically melodic as Maynard in Reflection?
No band since 1991 has captured the essence of raw power as Tool has.

Before Tool, I have to go with Don Barnes of .38 Special, Lou Graham (no other white man has the depth of soul of this cat), Huey Lewis, Robert Plant (The Zep years), and Jim Morrison.
