"You'll Never Feel READY to Walk Over"

Next Monday you'll feel more confident. After the gym you'll feel more confident. After one more drink you'll feel more confident. After you get a better haircut, a better jacket, a better job.

You've been "getting ready" for two years.

She's standing ten feet away right now. She'll be gone in four minutes. No amount of preparation will manufacture the courage that only comes from moving your feet.

Walk over. Stumble through the first sentence. Let it be clumsy. Let it be imperfect. You will feel more alive in those ten seconds than you have all month.

Bad timing, I've just entered into a relationship and right around the corner is her b-day.
Now while I'm not a big fan of buying people things on a regular basis, I usually do like to give nice gifts at b-days and x-mas HOWEVER, by b-day time we've technically only been together about two weeks (even though we've known we'd end up together for several months before)

What's the right thing to do here? I feel a bit odd getting her a large gift when we've only been together a few weeks (even though this is definatlely working out to be a serious relatioship) but I also feel odd NOT getting her a large gift since we ARE together.

I was thinking of just getting her a bunch of smaller things with meaning behind them, inside jokes we have etc., some flowers she likes, a sex toy haha just things like that but at the same time it might look a little odd if guy friends are getting her more expensive things than her boyfriend.
What's the rule of thumb here?

How about you take her out, rather than give her something?

Taking her somewhere cool, I dunno.....different city day trip? to the beach with barbecue, whatever....you havn't forgot her B/day, but you don't have to get her something "meaningful".

Don't spend your money on her. Give her a hug.
