I've been seeing this one girl off & on for a few months. I know she has no STD's, so that's not the issue here. She wants kids some day and told me if she ever got pregnent by accident, she'd have the kid...that SCARES THE CRAP OUT OF ME!

She's not on any birth control and hates condoms. I insist on condoms and have used them everytime except once. Everytime we start, she trys to talk me out of the condom. But, I insist.

She always says that she knows her cycle and when she can and can't get pregnent. I am assuming that she can't just after her period. Is this correct? If I am, how long after her period? A week? 2 weeks? A few days? It's been a while since I've had to worry about this. I always leave it up to the girl.

I have no intention of not using a condom, but I'm worried. What if one broke? What if we're drunk again? (I did a search on the internet and there's was way too much info to go thru...)

I'd love to have kids, but not now...

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

If you busted in her a week or so (around 9 days) after her period, that's usually when she can't get pregnant. You said it's off and on with her. I don't know how you two are doing but either way just ask yourself this question: Would you risk getting kids with her if you knew it wouldn't last?

Well, that's what I mean. Kids would make the relationship, whether romantic or not, be forever.

What scares me too is she has mentioned in the past that we would have great looking kids together.

On & off? Yeah, I'm not into her as much as she's into me. We've broken up 3 times because of it. That's a whole different issue...

I would be very careful with this chick. She tells you not to where a rubber, don't worry she knows her cycle, and that the 2 of you would have good looking kids. Bottom line, this chick wants to get pregnant by you.

THAT has crossed my mind. She's at that age where's she's talking kids, etc. That is why I'm SCARED.

I think I'm safe though. If it is about a week to 2 after, I should be ok. We had been drinking and I barely c*me...That was 3 weeks ago and she starts her cycle on the 18th.

Today I am going to go buy two boxes of condoms and stash them all over. I will not be a father until I choose to be !!!

Good policy, man. It's always a good idea to wait on kids till you're financially secure, and preferably married.

One last thing, watch out for the classic "I'm on the pill" line.

Thanx.

You are absolutely right.

My sister had a room mate a couple of years ago who wanted a kid. She went out and had a one night stand. To this day, the guy doesn't know he has a little girl.

No one is gonna raise any of my kids with out my input.

Wrap it, or you'll be sorry. There was an article I read not so long ago (think it was Yahoo) in which researchers found that women may ovulate on a different cycle than they menstruate. This apparently explains the not uncommon occurence of fraternal twins with different conception days. Apparently some 10% of the female population can ovulate, even when they don't have their period. Beware the pullout method.

She can get pregnant at anytime of the month. This includes her period. Don't trust her and her talk about her cycle. Does she know when the egg flushed out of her gina? NO!

Just keep it wrapped!

Yep get rid of her or wear a condom. Do not trust her to handle her own birth control! If she has talked about the topic already it is big time on her mind.

Man, you guys are scaring me now. But, you are right.

She did say a while back she had been "irregular" in the past.

And I don't trust her!

Run like he!! that chick is crazy. Child support is roughly 30% of your gross pay. Which is closer to 50% of your net pay. Do the math! Do yuo really want a kid by this chick? She is trouble. This relationship will never last. you are going to be yet another guy trapped into giving a chick a pay check every month.

Wow! Scary!

I think you should dump her or at least talk to her.
Tell her you DONT want to have kids.
Tell her you DONT want to marry.
Tell her that if she ****s up you will make her do an abortion.
See her reaction. If she is not cool with it kick her ass.

She had an abortion when she was younger and has all sorts of guilt about it. Like I said, she's getting at that age when she starts thinking too much.

I'm not going to dump her because she's talking to me. What if she, or any other woman didn't say the things she had? I mean, chances are there's a few guys on this board dating a girl who wants to have his baby, but hasn't said so. Not to mention who wold refuse to have an abortion. Only way to avoid the whole pregnancy issue is to...get the boys snipped. That ain't happening...

But, like was said above, I've just got to keep it wrapped and keep plenty on hand. Not bad advice for any one here.

My new best friend...the condom...never leave home with out him!

Women May Ovulate More Than Once a Month: Study

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm...08/wl_canada_nm/canada_health_ovulation_col_1

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - No wonder the rhythm method does not work so well for birth control -- scientists in Canada said on Tuesday they had found women sometimes ovulate several times a single month.

Their finding, if verified, would overturn the traditional wisdom that women produce an egg cell once a month. It would also help explain why "natural" methods of birth control, based on the idea that ovulation can be predicted, often fail.

"We are literally going to have to re-write medical textbooks," said Dr. Roger Pierson, director of the Reproductive Biology Research Unit at the University of Saskatchewan, who led the study.

"It's exactly why the rhythm method doesn't work."

Scientists have long known that humans have unique cycles of ovulation. Many animals come into heat -- a time when all the males around know through smells and visual signals that a female is ovulating and ready to conceive.

Not so with humans, who have "concealed" ovulation.

Standard medical science says a woman has a cycle running roughly 28 days in which an egg ripens, is released by the follicle, drops into the fallopian tube, and then is either fertilized or shed during menstruation.

Writing in the journal Fertility and Sterility, Pierson and colleagues found this did not always happen.

"We weren't expecting this. We really weren't," Pierson said in a telephone interview.

DAILY ULTRASOUND SCANS

In the study, Pierson, veterinarian Gregg Adams and graduate student Angela Baerwald did daily, high-resolution ultrasound scans on 63 women for a month, which allowed them to see the follicles very clearly.

"We had 63 women with normal menstrual cycles. Of those 63, only 50 had normal ovarian cycles," Pierson said.

Thirteen of the women ovulated multiple times, in various different ways. And of the other 50, 40 percent had up to three waves of activity by the follicles, any one of which could result in the production of an egg.

The women's hormone levels did not match this activity, Pierson said. "Hopefully this will help women explain how they got pregnant when they really didn't want to be pregnant, and it certainly will help us design better fertility therapies."

Apparently, measuring hormones in the blood is not enough to predict what a woman's reproductive system is up to.

"The hormones do what they are going to do and the ovaries just follow their merry path," Pierson said.

"We always thought that menstrual cycles and ovarian cycles were one and the same. It turns out they are just like two political parties -- sometimes they go along hand in hand for the good of the country and sometimes they go along their separate ways."

Pierson's team plans longer-term studies to see if the women's patterns are consistent from month to month.

"We don't know what's causing it -- we don't know if it is the weather or exposure to men or grapefruit juice or what," Pierson said.

The findings, which were first seen in cattle and horses, help explain some things that have puzzled obstetricians, Pierson said.

"It really explains how we get fraternal twins with different conception days," Pierson said. "Clinically, we see this all the time. We see women come in with twins and when we do an ultrasound we see one is at one 10 weeks development and another at seven."
