Depending on the circumstances, there are lots of meats that are edible after sitting around a long time. Cured ham, aged beef, jerky, all that stuff has been sitting around forever and perfectly edible. Maybe that burger is nothing unusual.

I doubt it. I left a ground beef pattie out once over night. When I woke up the next day the fat had a glaze look to it.
