This is considered one of the best lines in movie history.

James Bond: “You expect me to talk?”
Goldfinger: “No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die.”

Can someone explain why? Is it because it is so obvious? Is it because it is realistic? Is it because Bond got outwitted by Goldfinger?

Please explain.

Not really. It may be "a" well known line, but I doubt very many people actually believe it's "one of the" BEST lines in all movies.

It's embedded into pop culture like plenty of other pop culture lines from TV and movies.

Trying to understand why is a waste of time, as there is no explanation.

If people COULD understand "why" lines or memes become memorable, advertisers wouldn't waste so much money.

A famous "line" from advertising:

You always waste half your money. The problem is you never know which half.
