Completely agree 100%. You don't live together to "see" if you guys are compatible for marriage. You figure that out first, then if you must, live together for a few months prior to getting married.
My buddy, love him to death is a flat out beta to the max.

I've opened girls at the bar, got in good with them, then walked away to meet more people. Upon re-approaching I've told him to initiate the conversation & he absolutely freezes up completely & can't do it.
Its so wild to see all the things I've read about over the years come true as I get older. The main point being that as women get closer to hitting the wall, they will always pick a beta AFC nice guy to settle down with, even though that is NOT who they are ultimately attracted to....

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.
You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

Unfortunately, you can't help him until he asks. I've tried it with numerous friends and they only end up getting pissed off at you because no one really enjoys hearing uncomfortable truths, that is, until something really f-cked up happens.
You have to realize you're having a direct conflict with his socialization and ego. It's a tough nut to crack and isn't worth it. I speak my mind on this forum but I try to keep these opinions to myself because it'll only get me into unnecessary trouble.
