IMO, Actors from the British Isles are superior to their American counterparts. I cannot think of one bad or mediocre actor who comes from the United Kingdom, while I can think of a handful of bad American actors.

Some Great Actors (present only) from the United Kingdom.

Tim Roth
Alan Rickman (one of the best ever)
Christian Bale
Anthony Hopkins
Daniel-Day Lewis
Robert Carlyle
Jude Law
Ralph Feinnes
Joseph Feinnes

Hey, I never said America did not have any good actors. Of course, America may have a higher number of good actors because we have 290 million citizens as opposed to less than 100 million in the UK. My point was, you don't see any BAD or untalented famous actors from the UK.

Look what America has:

Bad Actors:

Kevin Costner
Keanu Reeves
Paul Walker
Martin Lawrence
Vin Diesel
Ben Affleck
Al Brooks

and dozens of mediocre actors.

Can you name any big time UK actors that are mediocre at best? No, they are all superb!!!

Dude, I'm from the UK and I know there a many, many bad actors from over here.

Of course, you're more likely to hear of the decent actors because they are the ones that are most likely to make it big.

Just a few **** ones off the top of my head that have appeared in American movies: Kelly Brook, Jason Statham, Vinnie Jones.

Hugh Grant, Clive Allen, Frederick Allen (II), and Alexander Armstrong came to mind before I even finished reading your post.

Last I checked, Jean-Claude Van Damme wasn't English or Welsh, so your hypothesis is null. Also, why not include Scotland? Why not just say Great Britain?

the best actor ever is the guy who played Macbeth in the old Macbeth movie in the 60s...the movie was boring but he was always strung out.
