"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

If i wanted her that bad I'd do a different approach than a random phone call. Chances arent that great. But **** chances, would anyone be a DJ if they didn't take chances?

I mean lets be real here... look at this in her point of view...
"so this random guy calls me that i dont even know... is he hot? and he wants to go out for a movie?"

A phone call just doesn't do the justice, you gotta pimp her in person. Besides its not nessessarily a bad thing if she has a few flings or something. See if you can catch her on the rebound.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Hmm...I don't have much advice on the pickup thing because I've never done that before, but I do have something else to say.

People have said this before, and I have discovered this on my own, that society does pressure you into getting a relationship and all of that juicy stuff. Movies, TV shows, songs on the radio, and seeing everyone you know get into relationships...a while back, I felt like **** for being single. On top of that, I would come to this site and reading a whole crapload of field reports, all of this about people getting head, getting laid, making out, and all of that. True, getting in a relationship is fun and it will make you happy. But there are some things more important than relationships. I would say don't do it if it's only because you feel left out.

Anyway, I don't know if I would randomly call a girl I don't know. If your friend knows her...maybe get him to hook you guys up somehow? Or do something with both of them and get acquainted.

As for conversation...I had and still have trouble with that too. You might try reading "Psycho-Cyberentics" by Maxwell Maltz. Conversation is easy, and it shouldn't be a form of work. You don't HAVE to make the other person laugh, and if you consciously try to, you won't pull it off. If you are worried about being boring, it won't work either. Just try to have fun. When you aren't trying to impress someone, when you aren't worried about what they think of you, or when you aren't consciously thinking about something witty to say, it is the easiest thing in the world. If you read Emerson's "Self-Reliance", you will also realize that other people are thinking the same things as you. Other people are equally worried about the impression they leave on you and are equally as insecure. When you realize that, it gets easier. After that...I started treating other people as I wanted to be treated, and it worked.

Sorry if I rambled a little bit, hope this helps.

I don't think its just society that is the driving force behind the need to be in a relationship. Hormones, natural programming can also play a part. But don't let it get you down just cuz your not in a relationship, cuz your not missing out on much. There much more to life.

I'm sorry to hijack, but what exactly IS Psycho-Cyberentics? I always thought it was similar to NLP, but if it helps with conversations, I guess it ain't.

mean a year sucks when you are in high school and seeing everybody in a relationship and realize you are one of the few people that don't have one.

awww, poor baby. Do you need a hug? I tell you what bro, this type of self pitty isn't going to get you a relationship, laid, or anything else. Walking around with this mental state will only make things worse. And don't think the girls aren't picking up on this negative energy.

You need to walk around with your head up and confident. Have positive thoughts. Know you can have anyone you want at any time. If you don't find anyone that suits YOUR needs at the school, start meeting girls at the malls, movies, or wherever you hang out.

As far as this freshman girl, I wouldn't call her. Don't hide behind the phone. Show her you have the balls to approach her and ask her out. Girls love this type of confidence.

"I'm Not Looking for Anything Serious Right Now"

When a woman says it, guys hear a confession. A heads-up. A scheduling conflict.

Here's the translation: I don't feel anything. Right now. With you.

Watch what happens when a man triggers actual attraction. The busy career, the recent breakup, the "not in a place to date" — all of it evaporates instantly. The same woman who was guarding her freedom is suddenly free every night.

The "22 Rules" explain why. When the right switches flip, her timeline rearranges itself around you.

Dude! I get told I'm ****y all the time just the way I walk around. It was 2 in the morning you can't tell me you have never had the 2 in the morning blues where you throw a pity party. Hell, everyone has... now I don't feel like that and think SOME THINGS I said last night were kinda stupid... think about that before you make me sound like a dumbass for that.
Pity Parties aren't part of my vocabulary, that's the difference between you and me.....dude.

It's one thing to 'think' this stuff when you're home alone at all hours of the night (or morning, whatever), but to come out on a forum like this and verbalize what your'e feeling tells me it's one hell of a pity party.

You're the one that made yourself sound like a dumbass bro. I didn't put a gun to your head and make you type that stuff.

I'm glad you can look back and see that SOME of things you said were stupid. And I hope it was my arsh words that shook you out of that mental state. If it was...you're welcome!

That's true. I only said that because he suggested that he felt left out.

As for psycho-cybernetics...it's about psychology and how people think. The book would be much more interesting and much clearer than if I tried to summarize it, though. It explains a lot of what this site teaches in greater depth.
