Anybody watch this show man v.s wild. I was watching this with a female friend and I must say I admire him very much.I was watching this with this woman and was very embarassed. He is what the modern man is supposed to be like.

yeah beargrylls i pretty hardcore but apparently he doesnt actually sleep in the wild as is depicted in his shows. he got caught out for sleeping in proper housing during his in the wild stint.

He nearly shoots a survival show in conditions where natives thrive. In contrast Eskimos could make a show titled survival in new york city. An Eskimo man would sit next to his Eskimo woman in their ice hut, watching satellite tv on 80 inch plasma screen, and they'd be like damn that's hard core.

he scaled Everest at 23, and was in the British special forces ( or equivalent) all before 30. While his show is for entertainment, his resume is quite impressive.

He paraglided over Mt. Everest, he was in the French Legion (sort of... it was for a show, but still), he is youngest Chief Scout, he circumnavigated around the UK, he was in Antarctica etc. etc.

I don't know which man with a drop of testosterone in his blood doesn't wish he had done at least half of what Bear has done.

Go to any bar in America on a Friday night and I can find you at least three guys who served in the "special forces". Yet, I doubt if any of these "special forces" guys could even navigate their way around the Moscow Metro System.

I don't care. Does he see the world? Is he adventurous? Does he have hardihood ?

You can answer with "Yes" to every question above. So I don't care if his show is fake. He undoubtedly lived an interesting life.

He didn't actually join the military. He joined 21 SAS which is a reserve service, although he still had to pass UK SF selection - so fair play to the boy. He broke his back in a freefall accident before he was deployable.

Really? So the point of life is to get rich enough to smoke Cuban cigars and drink champagne? How about seeing what life has to offer? How about seeing the world and pushing yourself into adventures?

The finer things in life are...boring.

He's a fraud, got busted several years ago sleeping in motels when he was supposed to be surviving in the wilderness and walking through a swamp that's 100 yards away from a major highway isn't my idea of survival either. Survivorman was the only 100% reality survival show.

Les Stroud on Survivorman = Outdoorsman first, entertainer second

Both are fun to watch, but I know who I respect more for bushcraft info.
