Asserting your dominance

When playing football or basketball etc players often assert their dominance by tapping another player on the side or back. It’s a harmless friendly gesture and all you are doing is recognising the other player.

In a social situation people will assert dominance by being the first to say hi, again this is just a simple recognition of the other person being there and being worth your time. You are now in a position to lead the conversation.

In a meeting you assert your dominance by being the first to offer your hand. Notice how the interviewer, the boss who ever it is will be the one to do this and then lead the meeting.

Whether you are the CEO of the company or the assistant of the guy who cleans the toilets, or who ever you are and in what ever situation, you want recognition, you may not need to actively seek it but you still want it.

When you recognise them, they recognise you and as soon as you recognise them they will let you lead. They wont start worshiping you but they will look to you to lead, if you do not then you have lost your chance, but after giving someone recognition he will give you a chance to lead and take control.

P.S. I have noticed that if you recognise some people and they let you lead, and you take control, the others see this and will follow the rest of the crowd and look up to you.

Remember, recognising someone will not give you control, but it will give you a chance to take control.

Well, have you heard the quote "I would rather be respected out of love then fear but would rather be respected with fear then disrespected"

If there is one thing you do it should be to take this in to account.

Do not take power using fear, as people will not like you, they will just comply out of fear and never disrespect you. You should only use fear on someone who disrespects you.

I find that the best way to take control is by being able to do things on your own. If you are out at the bar with a group of freinds dont start asking people if they want to come with you to buy drinks, dont wait for others, just go and do it yourself.

By doing things first instead of following others, the people who follow others will be following you.

I will also tell you know that a lot of it is down to your self confidence, for people to look up to you, being self confident is paramount.

Looking good or at least styleish will also be a great benefit.

Most people want to follow and are actualy subconsiously looking for someone to lead them, so its not some strugle to power, just be the one to do things first ie lead and people follow!

I have also noticed that the people i have looked up to like this have often been either physicaly strong or even if they did not look it people have thought they where strong, this is because no body gives them any crap.

This is partly down to the dont let people disrespect you side of things but you cant fight people off the whole time, these people are likeable so people dont mes with them.

At the end of the day if you are not likeable then none of this will have been any help to you.

if greeting first means dominance. what happens if you say hey, whats up and they ignore you. is that just a snotty prick or maybe they just didn't hear you, even though you said hello loud enough.
