I read articles making that claim at least 10-15 years ago. This has been going on for a while.

Not anytime soon. Women like feminism when it is convenient for them, and don't like it when it is inconvenient for them. Approaching men and paying for dates would be inconvenient for them.

Besides, under age 40 right now, there is a single male surplus right now in Western nations. Men only start to get a slight numerical advantage in their mid-40s in most Western cities and that's only if they want to date some has been mid-40 something woman, which a lot of men aren't excited about doing. The competition today to woo a 45 to 50 year old woman is pretty intense.

Due to intense male competition for women, it is reasonable to expect that women will keep getting freebies, even 40 and 50 something women. The typical 30/40 something male these days is a vagina beggar who will end up settling for whatever scraps he can get.
