Not sure if it was Ovid (or I get confused with his 2019 cousin) but he explained in details how that same woman could have two different reactions according to the man she was with.

Despite the "alpha fuxx beta bucks" concept was not known to the romans, he noticed how women that complained and were used to behave rudely with their wealthy husbands didnt do the same when other kinds of men.
