Divorce is so expensive and complicated that it leaves many poor people trapped in bad marriages.

Sara met her future husband when she was 18. He struggled with drug and alcohol addiction, but Sara thought marriage would change him for the better. It didn’t. Getting divorced is also important if you are in an abusive relationship, or if you want to marry someone else.
