"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

Chick wants to take a "break" from dating, giving out "excuses" for disqualifying men after a first date.

You could argue that I’d been disqualifying plenty of men in New York even after a first date for arguably trivial reasons:

  • for licking his fingers after we ordered yucca fries (both hands, multiple times)
  • for repeatedly calling me by the wrong name (Natalie)
  • for not knowing where Addis Ababa is
  • for eating meat off a stick
  • for carrying a large wad of one-dollar bills in his pocket
  • for being my height (5′2″)
  • for having a face slightly paralyzed by Botox
  • for not having heard of burrata
  • for wearing a beanie at dinner
  • for having a visible herpes simplex virus breakout on his lip
  • for snorting coke in the bathroom between courses
  • for wearing a tooth around his neck
  • for being on Atkins
  • for reviewing the bill like he was studying for the bar exam
  • for not having eyelashes
  • for wearing raspberry-colored trousers
  • for asking me for a blow-job
  • for telling me he dreams of a Range Rover full of offspring.

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.

Got one better for ya. Same "author" - Seems everyone and anyone can be an author these days.

My failed attempts at online dating drove me to marry myself (and it's a hot trend among millennials)

Oh my, what a nutcase!
I moved to an ashram in Kerala where I meditated and subjected my body to an Ayurvedic cleanse, worked on a vineyard on Sicily’s Mount Etna and went on a solo-safari in the Selous, Africa's largest game reserve, a place that is remote, raw and teeming with wildlife. Exactly what I needed.
This is just the inevitable result of feminism. Thank goodness it is negatively evolutionary - with the sp3rm donor exception, of course. Maybe are "all alone" (i.e., intelligent life, as defined as being able to produce intelligent radio waves, on Earth) in the Universe because technologically advanced civilizations become feminized, thereby leading to its technological downfall.

I just think it's amazing on how some, in this case, women, think. This was a nice excerpt:

It all started when my thirst for some serious soul-searching at the end of a succession of failed romances drove me to get off the dating merry go-round in New York, vacate my apartment in Brooklyn, and wander off deep into the wilderness (as one does).

Must be nice to live care free like that.

Give her a break. She just wants to be able to fart in her bed and buy more dildos
