alright, time 2 embark on a journey... a journey that will be uncomfortable, a lot of work and will probably send me home with my tail between my legs at times. but ya know, i need this, and im not gunna tell everyone else what to do, but i think this is something any new dj-in progress should do as a first step. i plan to start on thursday like it recommends, but im goin outta town with a buddy of mine 2morrow so i figured, "well, theres no way in hell im gunna see ne1 down there again, might as well make a fool of myself." so im gunna get the 10 rejections over with, which should be entertaining, and officially start on the 12th... so sit back, relax and enjoy reading about my bumbling efforts

*background information, feel free 2 skip since this isnt of any relevance, but a life-changing experience nontheless for me...

so back at the start of the summer i pretty much totaled my beautiful car... and let me tell you, i wouldnt recommend any1 drive a car 90 mph into a tree... i was takin corners at twice the posted speed-limit (like i always do, well back then anyway) no problem, but i decide to push my car a lil more

"a man is only truly alive when he is on the edge of losing control"
-i belive are the words from the new james bond movie

well let me tell u, the other side isnt a pickle. so after i push my car more then i should have (as if goin 80 on a 35 mph turn wasnt bad enough) i figured i might as well redline in 3rd, and everything was fine... until i lost traction when the road curved the other way, went off the side of the road and BAM

cut a long story short, im thankful for the second chance and this made me realize lifes 2 freakin short, that could have been it for me. i refuse to be reduced to just some sad memory, a teenager who loved thrills a little too much. my death shall be more glorious, and in 60+years if i can help it... so this is why ive been changing everything about my life, and the last thing to do is this... my odyssey of the legendary bootcamp

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Wow, Good thing you were still below 100 mph. I don't think I've heard of anyone walking away froma 100 mph+ crash. Also, best of luck on the boot camp. If you need any help, just let me know via here, my journal or PM.

week 1 day... 0 kinda

alright, today didnt go as well as i planned... altogether i got like 4 greetings to strangers, but i expected a lot more. normally i wouldnt have problems doing this, but lucky me, i get a case of the beef-chunks and driving 70 min on the freeway in traffic in a car wit no air conditioning (god i wish i still had my acura) kinda killed my bootcamp focus and i regressed to happily spending 300$ on my new wardrobe. i almost bought a sweater at Armani, cause the way i saw it, id feel like a million bucks wearin it, and it would be a good confidence booster, but ya know, my current job is sh*tty and i had to practically sell my kidney to afford this shopping spree. anyway, at least i had some progress in the dressing rooms. have u ever noticed the high concentrations of attractive women in like Abercrombie, Hollister, Guess, Armani (im young, preppy and have expensive tastes)? well, i decided i needed to talk to them (despite the horrid pain plauging my intestines) and from asking which pant size makes my butt look better to just asking them for opinion, it was progress! (not much, but ill take what i can get). rome wasnt built in a day, and id think of something witty 2 follow that quote but im tired and still feel sick. so got some conversations in, did the eye-contact thing and only 46 more greetings!

lets see... feelings during my trial first day, the pain in my intestines... dj-training on lack of fiber intake, i would not recommend

Week 1 Day 1

alright, officially started today. its amazing how people try to pretend ur invisible... i think its amusing, a stranger just says a friendly hello and their world is turned upside down, "oh my gosh, u saw through my invisibility cloak!" eye-contact wasnt a problem, neither was saying hi 2 people, accept those when ur about 2 say "h-" *turns, looks or goes other way 2 avoid communication with stranger* anyway, went 2 the bookstore (seems to be a good place 2 start based on the other bootcamps) then to the library. ill be damned if im going to spend 12$ on a book when i can check it out for free. saw an 8 and a 9 there, and i got into a small convo with the 8. turns out she was like 22... i dont think she liked the fact that i was 17, cause that came up. ive been told i can pass as 19-20, but i guess she could tell i wasnt old enough. i just told her she was a lil old for me anyway, and left. all in all not a bad day, got 9 out of 50 done today. i actually like breaking the silence barrier... its nice 2 see there are other humans walking about, not just the facade of walking automatons.

alright, i admit my motivation for the past couple days wasnt as high as it was on the first day. i believe my total count right now is 16? but thats alright, its starting to feel more natural. theres not much to say i guess, other then im physched to get out there 2morrow.

i love the champs commercial where it shows the younger football player waking up early to strap his matress around a tree to train... then it switches from the professional training to him. thats what i feel like right now, every small hurdle i make is like a hit against that tree. though i have a long way 2 being that professional (represented by the pro-football player or a real don juan) ill keep at it, 2morrows another day and with every attempt, success or failure, im one small step towards my goal.

hmmm, its wierd how some people react to eye-contact and the breaking of the silent barrier. i walk by this guy and just say a friendly hello and he like was startled that i said something n just nodded his head. ive noticed generally girls are more friendlier, at least the ones ive ran into today? also noticed that like adults kinda shy away when u make eye-contact n go somewhere else in a hurry... im not gunna f'in rob u or nething, calm down. anyway, still got a couple days left in week 1. right now my counts at 33, but im not worried i wont finish. with school starting back up ive had things to do, but i wont let any excuse stop me from reaching my goal. Walden had like stitches and everything and still got #'s, so no excuse will be enough to stop me (actually ive resolved to never make an excuse again... a man deals with his problems, so i shall deal with it or stfu. world doesnt need another complainer) broken leg, torn off arm, coma, i will complete this bootcamp with crutches, robotic implants or while doing it unconscious

anyway, enough of my nonsense

things ive noticed:

when i look good, i feel good
when i greet people instead of ignoring, i feel good
when i feel good from greeting people i feel like i look good (even on a bad hairday)
when i feel like i look good from when i greet people i feel better

and the cycle keeps going on like that

no longer do i sit at home wishing that my life were different, cursing the mundane-ness of everyday life

no longer am i lazy, im going out and trying to make a difference. (despite how easy week 1 is, at least im off my lazy butt instead of waiting for an oppotunity to present itself)

hopefully weeks 2-8 will go as smoothly as this one, but i dont care 2 much if its bumpy. im in this 2 improve, success or watever is irrelevant

week 1 last days

week 1 went alright. i discovered that i like it a lot better when u break the invisible/silence barrier, at least most of the time. i think its funny when u try and make contact and be friendly when seom1 walks by and they hurridly walk away like ur gunna mug them. but o well, who are they to me? week 1 was pretty easy, making eye-contact and just saying hi wasnt out of my comfort zone, but i know week 2 will give me a tougher challenge. but hey, live and learn, so 2morrow its reading and goin out there

*i kinda dipped into week 2 today since i had the chance, simply had a conversation with this girl at work who i didnt know, shes probably 8-9 years older then me, and not of dating quality, but i took it as practice. im hoping week 2 wont be 2 hard, but its just a vain hope

well, this conversation thing had its ups and downs for me today. its easy to talk to someone if u can break the ice (well DUH) so the couple times i was able 2 it was a piece of cake. 2morrow ill have 2 be more outgoing, which shouldnt be a problem. going downtown with one of my female friends for lunch then im off 2 help at this fundraiser for orphans... i dunno why they want me as a waiter, but if they want broken dishes and food all over the place they picked the right guy =) . anyway, that event should be a great place to practice, so ill take every opportunity to chat up whoever crosses my path, and for the rest of the week ill actually set aside outings just to get out and practice.

anyway, today went ok, got 2 convos out of 10 done, but im only going to count one so ill say i have 9 left. my first one was while i was waiting to get a haircut. for some reason i decided to go somewhere different, so i could work on week 2, but that means a different person cutting my hair which is bad. but ya, this girl sat down next 2 me n i did the eye-contact smile bit and after the initial fluff talk we actually had an engaging conversation. my second was with the hairstylist person, normally i just sit down and space out, but i made the effort to ask open-ended questions n found out we both had a thing for thrills, speeding and such. i wont count that since it wasnt a CA type of thing, just a "since ur cutting my hair i might as well distract u from doing a good job." oh, did i mention it was a horrible cut? but o well, itl grow out in a week or 2. all in all my first day was alright, i made a baby step in the right direction. i flaked out from talking to 2 females who walked by when i was at the supermarket, but rome wasnt built in a day, and neither shall my dj skills

well, this was a wonderful day of getting absolutely nothing done. i had plans to go to lunch with one of my chick friends, but either i got the date wrong (which i didnt) or she didnt have the courtesy to let me know something came up. and my big orphan thing didnt happen because of the rain, and no1 called me for that cancellation either, so i drove an hour total for nothing. i got a few min conversation with a lady there, instead of leaving in a bad mood i decided id at least practice having a conversation. i wont count this towards my 10 count cause i want them to be more CA-type situations. normally i would have said "oh, it was cancelled" and after their excuse woudl have left, so i guess im making progress. for wasting an entire day, im actually still in a good mood. $#@% happens, so im not gunna waste my time whining about my day 2 other people (accept in here, just posting my attemps at bootcamp). it looks like rain in the forecast for the rest of the week, so ill have 2 try indoor locations, not that i planned to do any outside in the first place... silly brain, trying 2 come up with excuses not go out. i guess i should always have a backup plan just in cause stuff like this happens, it almost killed my inspiration from yesterday, but the time for petty no big reason bad moods is over for me. tomorrow my goal is to approach or attempt 8 conversations with strangers, and i plan to keep this goal or increase it as the week comes to a close. i read somewhere "if u approached 14 girls everyday for a couple months, your skills would improve...." not that im rdy for that, but ill adapt it 2 my stage in the bootcamp

last couple days ive been thinking about life, and what i want out of life and all this other crap. none of this pertains 2 women, just all the other aspects. im trying 2 juggle way 2 many things, so i have the tough decision of cutting something out. that said, my focus on the bootcamp isnt as strong as it should be. but i did get a couple conversations started today, so now my count is at like 4.

at the gym i ran into this guy who used 2 go to my school, i didnt really know him but we recognized each other but when it came time for that awkward walk past like uve never seen im i broke the silence n it turned out to be a good convo. hes about 3-4 years older so i was asking him about the latter years of college life and watever.

and earlier today i decided to buy a couple fish, and no im not counting the customer-fish person converastion. anyway, i was looking at the numerous types of cheap ones (yes, ill be damned if im gunna spend 15$ on something that will probably die in a few weeks ) and one of the female workers commented about my attire and how it was cute. i was talking 2 another girl when she said that so she had 2 make an effort to get my attention, and instead of awkwardly saying thanks i took it as an opportunity to practice.

but ya, i seriously need to make more of an effort. its nice im not being a silent doofus during my regular daily tasks, but next weeks gunna be more of a challenge so if i dont prepare now ill fail. actually i need to fail, when u fail u learn, but ya, still got 6 to go so gotta set the bar higher and take a couple more steps out of my comfort zone.

oh and a side note, a couple of my friends have noticed ive changed a degree recently. one of my female friends commented on how i seem inspired and motivated somehow, and shes right. its not just this bootcamp but life in general. i dont remember who said it, but being a DJ isnt just pimping girls, its a style of how you live your life (and im sure its been said more then ONCE). so ya, 4 days left and 6 conversations to go... ill set my quota a lil higher if can, so hopefully things will get more interesting as this week ends and week 3 begins... its only uphill from here, so i should start stumbling and u all can laugh at me soon enough, no worries!

oh and not that im trying 2 promote a product or nething on this board, but check out

http://www.nike.com/wearyellow/index_f.html

its this liveSTRONG campaign started by lance armstrong to raise money for his foundation to battle cancer, but its a strong message. we all need something to be passionate about, so check it out, it might hit home with you. it did for me, and its just another form of motivation for me to live my life. (and the friggin wristband is only a dollar, if u dont wanna buy it online u can get it almost anywhere, it will offer unique conversation opportunities, and you can watch a girl get teary-eyed when u tell her why u wear it, that is if u come up with an eloquent reason)

*hope im not castrated for promoting this

TheCollector - ya, i expect to get some turbulence in the next 2 weeks but im not doing this bootcamp because its gunna be a walk in the park.

alright, today i didnt get to go out like i planned to go conversation hunting, but i did run into this guy who had a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, commented on it and had a couple min conversation about the beautiful piece of machinery.... but in keeping with my CA preferred situation i wont count that towards my 10... right now i have 4, i WOULD have 6 but i dont wanna take the easy way since the next couple weeks shall prove more of a challenge. anyway, ill post more 2morrow, theres not much else worth mentioning today that has 2 do with the BC

ran into my oneitis 2day. she seems to make an effort 2 flirt with my friends when im present, but i wasnt phased, and my more attractive female girl i knew had pictures of when we went 2 the amusement park in our area (some 6-flags place took it over) and ya, i was the only guy among 5 attractive females, and THAT was fun. so i held my ground and she sunk down in her seat... sounds low, but the other girl brought up the pictures and theres no way in hell im gunna be a nice guy and be like "not in front of her."

but ya, heres a lil background info

so the first 5 months of the relationship were awesome, it was fun, passionate and romantic. we were so "perfect" for each other *throws up*, and every1 commented on this. well, this is where i made the mistake of getting "comfortable", letting her know i liked being with her then any of my past relationships (HUGE HUGE HUGE mistake, it was so much better when she was paranoid one of my past women was guna come back and steal me away, especially the girl i ended things with since she moved) and pretty much disregarded everything i had picked up on this site about relationships. i thought we were too compatible to apply the rules to, that our relationship would triumph over anything *violently throws up* so ya, at the 8 month mark the spark died. not only for her, but for me as well (i wonder WHY we lost our "magic" *sarcams*) , and i decided it was time 2 next her, but the main problem was due 2 me getting comfortable and forgetting the rules of engagement. now, i dont regret the relationship, it was a great 8 months (well 7 actually, the last one wasnt a walk through the park) and im glad for the experience. but with my own negligence she evolved into a oneitis, and it hasnt been a great time getting past it. so ya, this summer ive surrounded myself with women to get over it, and for once truly enjoyed being single. i probably should have started my bootcamp when summer began, but i only recently came crawling back 2 djism. i guess the point of all this is, it feels great to get my priorities straight, and to get over my last gf. i cringe when i say things like this now, but live and learn. its great 2 know being single is fun, and itl only get better for me as i develop skills. all my past relationships, or girls i spend time with have all been from either them approaching me or just being around them so much chemisty was painted in big bright orange letters. i dont want this anymore, i have some experience to gain b4 i try another year-ish relaitonship, so im here to practice CA's and will learn 2 be comfortable in any situation. and i have some much deserved fun to have, so no worries at all

anyway, it feels good to get this off my chest. 2 months ago i wouldnt have been able 2 handle seeing her without that awkwardness, but today i handled it like a man, had a lil ass slapping and just didnt care she was around. this is why im doing the bootcamp, this is why im doing this big self-improvement... and so far, it feels great.

but ya, back to my bootcamp progress. ive become really busy as of late, and today i didnt have that much time to spare, but i had a conversation with an exchange student, so now my counts at 5. i need to pick it up, but i just wasnt in it 2day. i was letting the excuse of being busy 2 not be outgoing and to just be lazy. i dont have 2 have free time to devote just for the purpose of initiating conversations, since im out for most of the day that puts me around new people all the time, so gotta pick it up for the last couple days (stupid brain found an excuse 2 sit on my lazy bumm when in fact i had more opportunities then when i go out simply for the bootcamp). i dont plan to update until the weeks over since im going 2 be pressed for time, and 2morrow i have an outing with this 8ish girl, so ill be sure to post my progress for the end of week 2. gotta step it up and get that 10, and i always work better under pressure so wish me luck!

well, theres no point in lying in my bootcamp, im doing this for my own sake. i only got 8 conversations in the week with strangers, which is 8 more then i would have had normally. the main thing ive gained from this week is 2 TRY to talk to strangers, but also to be more outgoing and sociable around the people i kinda know but dont normally talk to. ive been focusing alot on my inner-self, making huge strides there. but with that said, i have failed 2 complete the quota, and i feel something must be done for punishment. do i don myself with a care-bear costume and galavant around in the mall? maybe for the end of bootcamp... if u can pick up chicks dressed as a pink fluffly bear, u have 2 have SOME skill, lol. but ya, i really feel the need to redo week 2. at least ill get 10 as fast as possible and see if i can transition into week 3 soon, but 1 more week shouldnt do much. if u guys think i should just go on 2 week three lemme know, but i think i would have more confidence knowing i had fully mastered week 2 b4 moving on. i really feel i can gain something from doing week 2 again, and ill probably set a higher quota since ive had a little more practice.

anyway, i guess ill update on my outing last night. the girl was probably a 7-8, depending on how she was dressed, and overall the evening was ok. the fact that she was 2 years younger then me was a huge turn-off, but we had a lot in common n there was no awkwardness (thank god) i let her know i was pretty busy for the next couple weeks, but that i might call her later if i have the time. im not 2 interested in going out with her again, but i might have a change of heart. for the last part of our outing we played some hardcore tennis, and were both extremely good, so that was probably the most enjoyable part of the evening for me. i love a good match, the intensity, the sweating, and the sexual noises girls make when their trying 2 get the ball or hit it hard... try concentrating with that going on. if i dont wanna date her, shes definetely worthy of a match or 2. i thought about letting her win, since women have more fun when their not losing (go figure) but she was really really good so i couldnt let myself lose that night. (fyi ive been playing for about 9 years, so dont compare 2 people batting the ball back n fourth with the level were at, not 2 brag or nething i just hate it when people flame on the sport, im doing what i love and doing it with style)

back 2 the BC... so far ive changed for the better. i love initiating eye-contact not only with girls but with ne1, its like a challenge. half the people shy away, a good fraction that keep looking say hi first and of course ill be my newly-found friendly self if they dont say hi (most dont say hi). but the biggest thing ive gained from the first 2 weeks has just been my mindset. ive been focusing on my dreams (and figuring out what they are), trying new things or planning them so i can have more things to be passionate about in life, im becoming more organized, and shedding my procrastinator self and realizing my full potential. the feeling is great, especially since ive been getting up at 6am to go biking. it helps me sleep earlier at night, i can wake up early, im not a dead zombie for the first part of the day, i believe last year some people thought i was a druggie... and thats pretty bad, gotta carry myself like a MAN, not some undead creature. ive shifted my weight-lifting drink 2342432 protein shakes a day to just exercise. im still lifting and eating a LOT (but only food i like and healthy quality food), but my focus is now on being healthy, getting strong and feeling better. before i was too caught up on looking good for the females, and a DJ doesnt do something just for the approval of others. im in shape already (granted it wouldnt hurt to gain about 15 lbs of muscle, but who doesnt need it), so im just going to focus on strength and performance, not just bulking up for no reason. i love to bike, swim, play tennis, jog, and ive been avoiding all of these things for the sake of bulking up, so thats stopped. also, being lazy, procrastinating, sleeping in, staying up late, not eating right... all these things have a negative impact on my physical and mental self, so they are no longer a part of my life. though my transformation has been small and is still in progress, im loving every second of it. i think ill benefit from reaching the quota for week 2 in 1 more week, so 2morrow starts week 2.5!

only got 1 successful conversation today, was about 4-5 min so that went alright. while paying for something, i tried initiating a conversation with the cashier, but she was pretty shy and had stilfed responses to watever i said, but i was warm and wished her good day. the rest of my day i was around people that i knew, so i cant really count nething else. i woke up at 6 n went biking for 1.5 hours, which was way longer then i normally go, but i didnt feel like going up that last hill so i went around only to decide to bike around even longer. u dont notice it 2 much when ur driving, but at least where i live a lot of people bike for exercise, mostly adults, so i did the basic eye-contact hello greeting, n for the most part they were friendly. me n this chick were battling this killer hill, n i muttered that the earth should be made flat, and she laughed, agreed plus some blah blah but that wasnt long enough 2 count since we parted ways, but beats absolute silence. also i passed a jogger once, then by the second round we recognized each other n i told him he was crazy, id die if i ever ran that far, got a smirk outta him. (and its true, im more of a sprinter then a long distance runner, good ol fast-twitch muscle fibers) so ya, only got 1 conversation of appropriate length, but even going about my regular daily routine im slowly becoming sociable naturally, i dont have 2 think about it, which is good progress, but got a weekend coming up so shootin for 3-4 tomorrow since ill be out of my social circle.

Doin good man, keep up the great work. I usually don't see that many people when I jog, but when I do I only say hi and make eye contact. It's great that you're able to at least also throw in a comment here and there. Keep it up, I'm rooting for ya.

week 2.5 update

thx Seraph, as long as i get 1 reply a week its good motivation lol.

anyway, ive reached my 10 for the week, but i have 1 more day so i wanna try and reach 15. another thing ive noticed about myself: if i make that extra effort to look good, wear the right lcothes instead of bein a scrub in an old clothes. your not always gunna meet women when u go out lookin for em, i used 2 always say "its always when im all sweaty from exercising or just bein a scrub for a day when i meet some girl who i seem 2 have a good vibe with." well DUH, u coudl meet a girl at anytime in your day. when in got into my car accident, i could have sat around im my boxers poking at my bruises, but i decided against it and a few of my female friends stopped by unannounced with soup and a good dose of tickling. good thing i was showered.... but ya, so for everyday this week ive taken it up a notch, making sure i smell and look my best, i wear the best clothing for watever im doing, and it shot my mood through the roof, i carried myself better and it was a breeze to make eyecontact, say hi and talk to people. its been tough keeping up all these improvements, my bad habits are trying 2 fight back but like Teddy Roosevelt i have my trusty big stick 2 give em a good ol whack. hmmm, anyway i guess ill talk about my 2 conversations that overshadowed the other 3 i got since my last post

tennis gal- i ended up hitting with this girl whose name eludes me. im horrible with names, i hope i dont forget a girls name whos number i get for a date. "hi, do you happen to have an attractive female at this number with so and so features." yes, that would suck. anyway, for some reason i was lazy and put tennis gal in my cell with her number, so i dunno how thats gunna work out. but ya, ended up talking for a while with her afterwards. turns out shes really active, swim practice in the morning, n she was obviously a good tennis player. athletic bodies, are probably my favorite, but she didnt seem to be the brighest person in the world. i like smart girls, but i might give her a call if i ever figure out wat her name is. lesson from this? put the girls REAL name in, not some stupid name thats supposed 2 remind u of who it belongs to

some random guy: talked about car wrecks, who did the worst, got the worst ticket and so on. lets just say i won that contest, not that im proud that i totaled my RSX.... but live has no rewind button, im movin on, tryin 2 feel pimp in my old 87 sedan

anyway, im glad i took the time to redo week 2, week 3 should be a good challenge for me. the biggest thing for me has just been making the extra effort, and its been good so far. the only minor setback i had happened like this:

i was walking in my gym, n saw this elderly man with a walker making his way over, so i decided id hold the door open for him. well, after waiting about 20 seconds for him 2 finally reach it, he just walkts through the other $#@&ing door. wat the hell is that?? that really ticked me off, but it went as quickly as it came. ive been tyring 2 control my state of mind, but i guess things will still piss me off.

so, 1 more day left of this week, shootin for another 4-5 2morrow if i can!

week 2.5 complete

alright, met my quota this time and preparin for week 3. this seems to be where most people flake out, but im looking foward to getting some numbers! after a week of talking to random strangers it became a hell of a lot easier, so it should be the same with the chicas. right now i dont think i could do a cold-approach to save my life, so this will be good practice

week 3 day 1-2

day 1

only got 1 conversation , she was about a 7.5-8, but it was good practice. we were both standing in line, so wat the hell, started flapping my lips and presto, 1 conjured up conversation. didnt get much chance to do nething more, was my moms birthday so spent the day with the family

day 2

choke after choke after choke (repeat many times)

i still dont know how to start up a conversation with a girl when shes like walking by. if were both in an elevator, standing around fine, i even like Waldens technique of going to a bench where a girl is and pretending to look in backpack. but so many females walk by everyday, but i just couldnt bring myself to say anything today. i remember reading somehting about trying to pick up women on the street and why it as difficult, so i guess i need to focus on going to better locations and starting up conversations with women i meet just during my daily schedule. better luck 2morrow, still got 9 to go
