@Redwood

What consoles do you have? What kind of games are you into?
Right now I only have the PS4 original/slim. The others (PS2/Xbox 360 Elite) got lost in a flood. As far as games, I haven't thought about them specifically but I have been playing MGSV, Tekken & Sleeping Dogs alot lately.

Sorry to hear that. They were fine consoles. Ps2 is the most successful console of all time in terms of sales and it had a lot of exclusive games. The 360 is in the top 10 in terms of sales and it also had some good exclusives.

Top five in terms of sales. Great console, some good exclusives. Released in 2013 and games are still coming out for it more than 10 years later.

I played Sleeping Dogs back in the day. Great game. Too bad they didnt make more games in the franchise.

Word is that, Square Enix weren't impressed by its sales and pulled back on a sequel :(

But I digress. For my old consoles, I hate that I have to start all over. I had a vast library and I barely remember half of it other than the most well known titles.

My guess would be somewhere between September and December 2025.

I see. Makes sense but its still sad to hear.

Ps2 has some exclusive games stuck on the system (Ape Escape 3 comes to mind but there are probably more). If you buy an Xbox Series S, you can buy/download a bunch of backwards compatible games from the 360 era. Some exclusive games might be missing though

Interesting to know. Almost makes me lean towards going with the Xbox than the PS5...

I think Playstation and Xbox are slowly but surely pushing towards an "Only Digital" future (and my guess is Nintendo will eventually go that route as well, but less aggresive about it). This is one of the many new trends that is not very popular by consumers.
Just to go through some numbers, cloud gaming went from half a billion revenue in 2017 to $4 billion in 2023, estimated to be about $7 billion by the end of this year, and projected to become $25 billion a year by 2029, if current trends continue.

Gaming As A Service was $1.85 billion in 2020 and projected to become $18 billion by 2027. It's a small chunk of change in the $200 billion worldwide gaming industry, but both are picking up speed.

The uncomfortable truth about anti-consumer decisions is that for every person who is against it, there are others who will defend it.

That's some numbers for sure. No wonder every other gaming company Is trying to become the next Fortnite or Call of Duty Warzone

That's how Rocksteady got from an acclaimed Arkham Trilogy to a flop like Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League. What I think Rocksteady should have done instead of SSKTJL Is one of the following:

- Creaste an Arkham prequel trilogy a la Star Wars
- Work on a different DC franchise but Keep It a narrative single player experience
- Work on another Warner Bros thing unrelated to DC (Harry Potter for example)

The uncomfortable truth about anti-consumer decisions is that for every person who is against it, there are others who will defend it.
Yes. They aré like the Simps of the gaming industry
