Talk to any interesting person anywhere, whether it's at the gym, a police station, or a damn homeless shelter.

Doesn't really matter where you pick up, or what you say, as long you're confident and natural. If you have anxiety and are all up in your head, doesn't matter where you're talking to said person, they will pick up on it and be uncomfortable. Making someone uncomfortable around you is a very effective way to repel them.

Take off the word pick up, converse with people.. Men or Women.. anywhere.. treat the hot ones just like a dude,, if you like what you see .. after some interaction ask for the number and go from there.
