I figured as much. I am under the assumption that even pictures lie if they were taken years ago before the LBS started piling on. Again, not expecting much out of this but if it worked for people here its worth a go.

Here's another problem with POF. Just logging in, gets you side tracked. I'm meeting a gal tonight, logged on to POF.

Next thing I know, I'm browsing profiles and writing to some of them.

I get a response back almost immediately. I start writing her back to get a number...and stopped for a second. Rechecked the profile, and it was a large gal who just messaged me out of the blue...NOT one of the gals I wrote. It was not a response, but a new message.

This is how POF can be trouble. If you start getting profiles mixed up.

There seems to be tons of single good looking women in my area, early 30's. But the large ones are on the aggressive.

Becareful out there, some of these women could gobble you up.

Haha, man that's cruel. What's crazy, is how stupid the message is though...I actually don't mention boating, I mention sailing. I like to go sailing.

Maybe I need to put something in my profile to let women know that sailing is very active. It requires a certain fitness level.

I've been getting a lot of crazy messages from very large women. This woman, damn if she fell overboard, I'd never get her back into the boat. At least she'd float though. However, she is too big to even fit through the hatch to get down below. She would have had to stay on deck the whole time.

If I search within a 25 mile radius of my location for women who fit my requirements ( thin is usually it), I come up with 20-25, of which 70% have no pictures. The age bracket is pretty broad at 20-35.

if I search where I lived before within the same 25 mile radius with the same requirements, over 300 come up. This is only searching 23 year olds. if you do the same age range, its easily more than the search engine can handle.

Plenty of Fish is a poor reflection of the potential dating pool available for any area. If you insist on doing online dating, you'll see a much better pool to fish from, from pay sites, like match.com.

word, I hear ya. I guess just via comparison I was a bit let down. its hard to top where I was living at , though.

The good news is that it has gotten some attention. I am not much of a writer, but the pictures seem to be working - the pictures are mint. no hot chicks though, one fat cougar ( more like a sloth, but whose keeping track here?), and another 18 year old an hour away.

I think checking once a week for new chicks is the best idea. I still hit up downtown on weekends occasionally, and am starting to know people when I go out. Something I took for granted at the end of college was knowing at least 30 people and shooting the **** w/ them when I was out. Personally, I found online dating a poor substitute to build a guy up with inner confidence and giving him more of that dont give a toss to approach, feeling.

Online dating is like posting up an advert and waiting for a buyer, it's cheap sales, a poor mans route to attract custom.

Yes you can send out a mass amount of emails, but I also think of online dating has coc* heavy, a disadvantage at the outset, if anything your competing with x amount of blokes, now in the real world of dating, even walking into a bar, your chances improve greatly from the available pool. (many guys who cant pull or have zero confidence, are 'all' on online dating, sitting behind a PC and sending texts and emails is easy to do, thats why all the loosers are on it, loosers you wouldn't have to worry about in the real world, you can sit back and watch them cradelling the pint).

Simply: you send an email to someone on online dating, you can guarantee that person had probably a few emails before you and after, it's like she is a kid in a candy shop.

The difference in if you go to a bar, the girl may not have been approached (it happens more than people know), and you can also move onto another bar with a more balanced ratio of women.

It goes back to hitting places up that increase your hit ratio and going to target rich places, online dating to me, isn't target rich - they are known to be man heavy. on average 2:1 ratio - that's not good odds at all.

In that it's a poor reflection for a mans chances and growth in the dating field, your confidence, will be better used on a target in an environment that is in your favour, rather than be another coc* she has to wade through.

(edit: This is why pay sites are, to me much better, all the zero confidence to approach lossers also want an easy ride - they hardly ever pay, the ratio is much lower, and women who are serious about dating and not just a run of the mill AW dont pay, also single mothers on low income cant afford it).

That's why pictures are so instrumental to success on, online dating, because thats all she has to go on to seperate, yeh you can send some witty reply and try to win her over with words, but the odds are not in your favour.

I did online dating, let's just say I was far more successful out in the real world, PoF can actually lower your self-esteem, it can regress you, it can make you second guess yourself.

Personnally, I can take rejection alot better out in the field, online dating can be brutal - A guy has to have a high level of persistancy, because even some of the best guys who do online dating, put a hell of alot of work into it.

Also online dating, may lead to msn, some girls require you to MSN them, or phone them or email for a prolonged period of time, out in the field you can get it all done so much faster with out all the excess filter rubbish.

Personally, i'm not a fan of online dating, it's a poor substitue for the real world.

What you find is, it can also be a buffer to prevent guys from approaching; "I dont have to chat that girl up, because some girl probably hit me up on PoF"!

Too many negatives for me personnally, but each to there own.

In all honesty I only use that site to suppliment real live meetings. Most of the P.O.F women seem to have real issues by reading their profile "wants"(I want, me,me,me) and alot are single moms and or have other problems...like sensing they've just gotten out of or are still in a relationship but are "looking". Most are looking for their "White Knight" or "The One" "Refuse to Settle" but never look at themselves as a problem even though they've caved to internet dating. I don't think alot are doing it for an ego boost though unless they are in their 20's and have a facebook page with 800 "friends". I love sending it out and seeing who's got a sense of humor and can laugh at themselves. So far about 9 have replied. A few, like 3 read/deleted. Most have read but not replied...yet. If not? Who cares. Meeting online is alot harder than in person as they read the profile "resume" and automatically disqualify someone due to the "one" thing THEY don't like. Some of the ones I've spoken to get alot of perverted or weird emails. I'm an average looking guy. In decent shape for my age 5'10 165 lbs. I don't work out..lol..

You'll be able to sense with alot of them "tired of the games" just got burned and need an ego boost before going back to their "jerk" of a boyfriend. I laugh at that sillyness and throw it immediately at them in the first email I sent above.

Be careful not only of clingy nutjobs....but take a good look at their pictures too. ALOT are BIG GIRLS. I've gotten a number so far from a pretty good looking woman in Florida. I'm going there soon and visit alot. Working on 3 more on there for numbers when and or if they are comfortable. The girls on there for my area really aren't attractive. Alot of overweight and or ghetto women. I find I meet more better quality people when I go out. It is what it is. But F it. Look, what could you possibly expect from a FREE dating website???

Most of the women on there figure that they can just see whether "they still have it or don't" and most often than not, you'll see uppity HB-5's. These are the girls that would be all over me at a club but on the internet are pedastelized princesses.

I even experimented with this.

I used to be a Match.com AND PoF member, and guess which would I had MUCH more success on with BETTER female candidates.

The one I had to pay for.

The women at PoF think they are god's gift to heaven since they are at a free site where dozens of men will contact them regardless of what they look like. I emailed a TON of women on that site just to see whether they would respond or not and most of them would just ANSWER the questions but not ask back or just not respond at all.

And the worst part is they feel like they can CHOOSE which guy to go out with, but more often than not, that guy just wants an easy hook-up... which is why most will have on their profile "No games please"... RIGHT. No games. What that usually means is "I can play games, but you better not."

I'm already NOT receptive anymore to online dating. I'll take cold approaches over that anyday. I used to be a fan of Match.com but ONLY if it's not your MAIN source for gaming.

PoF will destroy the souls of those men with relatively no inner game. It's definitely crushing when a girl that'd probably fawn over you at a coffee shop or at the mall, all of a sudden won't give you the time of day on a website because there's 15 other AFC's that want to take them out.

And for the record, I never went out with anyone from PoF. Whenever they'd respond, I could just see the general lack of interest... as if they wanted ME to go all in... screw that, I didn't have the time to waste on that, so I just quit altogether. PAY FOR Dating is a WASTE of your hard earned money. You can meet some people off there (met and dropped plenty of nutty women off them) but alot are African scammers (you can tell by the one HOT picture with terrible English), alot of old pictures or just face pictures, and they will offer you "free" trials. send you fake emails to say this or that wants to meet you, you reply, no answer till your membership starts, and they magically "disappear" . It used to be good when it first started. But now it's loaded with the stuff I mentioned and OLD profiles of people who aren't on the site anymore but listed as "Active" as they retain the rights to the things you put on. It's just a big money making marketing tool. You'll get alot of undesireables sending you email as well as emails from third party dating sites. Read alot of the peoples reviews of online dating below on the left hand side under Popular reviews. People even think the sites put up fake "good" reviews. Don't waste your money. P.O.F is free, there's lots of trash, but you don't have to waste money and may actually snag one or two good looking normal ones.

I've banged about 10-12 women from POF over the years. I've sent out literally hundreds of initial emails. About 75% don't respond at all, of the 25% that do I'll go out with a couple, and half of those I'll end up sleeping with. So I have about a 2% lay rate based on initial contact. I.e., out of every 50 or so chicks I contact I'll screw 1. I consider this to be a fairly average online lay rate.

These are usually pretty average-looking women. 5s and 6s, rarely a 7 and very rarely an 8 (I don't hit on the 4s and lower). Some are single moms, some are 40-something cougars, most are late-20s/early-30s single white middle-class females looking for a standard boyfriend/girlfriend relationship. Often they're new to the area.

Fortunately I have a LOT of free time. Not much money, but *lots of time.* Which is what online dating takes.

A few things:

online dating is a great social experiment for guys in a good few ways, you can witness the double speak of women, and the principle 'look at her actions and not her words'.

As naughty Ninja describes, you get women saying no games, unless its them playing it.

You get women who say 'no players' when infact the only guy she responds to in a postive way is a guy who is very much a player.

You get girls who state 'I'm tired of being hurt', who will go for the thuggist guy on the site.

The is observations you have from online dating.

A womens profile in most cases, is probably the key to attracting them through being the total opposite of what they actually state they want.

"No mind games" - Translation; I cant handle my emotions, if you play mind games with me, you may have me thinking about you, I dont want that because I know it chips at my defences and i'd probably fuc* you. - But you can believe i'll be playing mind games with you, are you up to the challange?!

"No players" - translation; I've done the co*k carosel, now I want an ignorant beta but if your hot enough I may just take another coc* or 4. - Also if you dont look like you have the potential to fu** alot of women, I probably wont reply to your email.

"No thugs" - Translation; My last BF was aggressive and abusive towards me, I found it a turn on, I know I shouldn't so this is a line hoping to filter out the type of guy I really go for!, Abusive A-holes. - Look at the pictures, now and again you may catch a glimpse of the last BF, large, skin-head who looks like he bites the heads of babies.

"I'm medium built" - Translation; I'm actually 18stone but according the the BMI index of America size 16 is average, so by default i'm average build (UK size 16 is huge). - Expect a head shot only, or a picture that is 5 years old, before she popped out two kids.

I find it hard to judge a womans profile with anything but factual points, especcially when she posts something about, not wanting a certain outcome, usually what they are communicating is, that outcome is exactly what they want.

It's like the girl in the club saying she isn't going to sleep with you, when what she is communicating is; she will sleep with you, if you continue doing what your doing.

I'm registered on there, and I completly AGREE with Kailex here, he described PoF perfectly. For me, I get about 2 messages every other day about my profile and over 75% replies. I've rarely seen Read Deleted or Unread Deleted, if anything, it's the girl just reading but taking her time to reply.
I've bagged one low-quality girl who had a baby, and gathered about 15+ phone numbers, I've been reigistered on there for 4 weeks now.

Attention HORS, HORS, Single Baby Mothers, Pedestalizing, Discrimination, Liars = Plenty of Filth, you have girls on there with there a.ss out with "Looking for friends" on there about me section, it's so bullshyt. Fat AW's are GENIOUS at taking pics! (keep that in mind).

I always take interest when it comes to "Ideal Date", it's usually atleast 3 activities in the whole day! The reason why is because they have a self bloated sense of self importance, due to the amount of men on these sites - it's very easy for any looser with an internet access to contact chicks on online dating sites - So what you get is, guys who dont have the balls or the courage to approach girls in the real world (and there are shi* loads of em, about 9:1 ratio) - All emailing chicks and giving them a bloated sense of self worth.

The reason why out in the field it's easier, is because these women have more competition, competition anxiety kicks in, the place is usually an equal ratio of men and women and the guys who have the balls to approach are seeking out girls of their standards and passing the ugs on by, where as the guy who would settle for her, is too busy cradelling his pint, but on PoF he can hit her up, and they do, in droves - Even the fat pigs are game. Some men would fuc* anything, you have a vast % of guys who cant get sex and have'nt had sex in years, hitting these chicks up with the most romantic sickening shi* one can ever bear witness to.
