Where can I get cheap design work done? I'm looking to commission a corporate emblem/family crest type of thing. Are there any websites where designers hangout?

Post an ad on craigslist.org under the jobs section. There's a specific section for art/media/deisgn. Be descriptive in exactly what you're looking for, maybe even post a link to an example of something similar that you like, then see who responds. Ask them to send you a link to their online portfolio of work and if you like what you see, then make a deal.

Word to the wise though, like anything else, and especially so in graphic design, you get what you pay for. I can't emphasize that enough. Better to pay more to a person that knows what they're doing than some jackass teen with his cracked copy of illustrator willing to do it for $50.

Let me know what type of stuff you're looking for. If it's something I know I can do, samples are always free. Who knows, maybe $80 graphic job with free sample is what you looking for. I've seen amateurs kill the pros, that's what so wonderful about art!

Thing is though, if they were better than the pros, they'd be charging pro's prices or more. Why would someone that's that good be charging less than everyone else? Think about it.
