Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

this site has definately given me a greater understanding of men as individuals, which is perspective i need when my girls are all manhaters.

This has been done to death... I'm a psych major, a friend from another board realised I was starting to take what he said on board and showed me the main site, suggesting I read some of the articles. I'm also incredibly nosy and found my way to the boards. I'd just come out of a relationship that was bordering on emotional abuse (If he went out with friends that was fine. If I sugested going out without him I 'didn't love him' if I stayed in with him I was boring. Going out with my friends was impossible (he said they didn't like him, they weren't 'his kind of people') his nights were all 'lad's nights'. He'd make plans then cancel them so he could be with his friends - or worse refuse to make plans incase he got something better to do (like watch paint dry). Not just once or twice - practically every day.) I was so head over heels in love with him I let him away with it all - and was totally devestated when he eventually found the guts to end it.
The stuff here - particularly the oneitis and self esteem posts helped me get myself back on track. To start with I wanted to know how he'd managed to keep me down so I could avoid it in future - now I've accepted that he's just a bastard, I was an idiot and stay mainly for the banter that goes on here.
So that's that. Can I have extra credit for helping out the insomniacs in the corner?
