"She Made Her Decision Before You Finished Your Sentence"

Three seconds. That's how long it took. Your shoes. Your posture. The way you held your drink. Whether you looked at the floor or looked at her.

She already filed you away. Interesting. Boring. Safe. Bold. Before you even opened your mouth.

Everything you say after that is just her confirming what she already decided.

So stop rehearsing lines. Fix the first three seconds. Stand tall. Look up. Smile like you mean it. Walk like you belong wherever you're standing.

The words come later. The impression comes first.

Going to Montreal to drop a female friend off who's moving there. She invited a hot mutual friend of ours along for the ride. There is no interest on my part for the girl I'm "dropping off" but on the way back would like to get something going with the girl who is "along for the ride"...

I'd say if a girls interest in me could be rated on a 1-10 scale her interest in me is about 5.5 at this point.

Any tips to quickly escalate towards something romantic would be great...

"I just moved here from Florida."

That sentence contains at least five follow-up questions she WANTS you to ask. Where in Florida? What brought you here? How long have you been in the area? What do you miss? How does it compare to here?

She handed them to you on a silver platter. And you said, "Oh cool. I come here every week. I love this band. Ummm... pretty crowded tonight."

She smiled politely. Nodded. And never texted you back.

I was that guy for years. Talking too much. Listening too little. Panicking about my next sentence while she was literally feeding me the answers.

Then I found 22 rules that fixed the whole thing. Rule number one: shut up and listen. She'll tell you exactly what to say.

Escalate verbally, e.g. talk about personal stuff, interests, dreams for the future, etc. Moving is a good topic. Talk about your plans for the future, what you want to become, etc. Ask her about hers.

Figure out a way to either get inside her place, or get her inside yours. Try not to "meet" someplace. Work it so she is dependent on you and your car.

If getting alone inside of a residence doesn't seem likely, stop and get something to eat, and make any excuse to touch her on her arm or shoulder (at least once), and read her response.

before you part, tell her you think she's really interesting and you enjoyed her company. Get her contact information in case you have time in your busy schedule to do something with her in a couple days. Make sure not to make any specific plans, or act like you are soliciting her agreement to some vague future date. Just tell her you enjoyed her company, and maybe you'll call her later.

Whatever you do, don't thank her for anything. Moving sucks, everybody hates moving. If you thank her for spending time with you you'll sound like a tool.

Maybe you could hint at your montreal friend paying you back somehow, and work a future get together this way.

Lot of ways to play this. Be cool, hang back and take advantage of whatever opportunities come up.
