"The Coffee Shop Girl You Never Spoke To"

You've replayed it a hundred times. She stood three feet away, scrolling her phone. You had an opening. You composed the perfect line — after she was gone.

For all you know, she's married now. To some guy who said something. Anything.

Openers are cheap. Almost any sentence works when it's delivered within three seconds. The expensive part is the standing there, drafting and deleting, while the window quietly closes.

The "22 Rules" stripped out my hesitation. What to open with, how to keep it alive, and the one habit that costs guys more women than anything else: waiting for perfect.

I know there's probably been a few of these "what do I talk about with a girl" threads...but most of them are for grown men. I don't think I've seen one for high schoolers and I'm having trouble thinking of things to say to this girl (I don't want to talk about school or sound too corny...). Could someone give me some advice or a direct link to a thread with this same topic (for high school). Please don't tell me to read the bible...

The problem is that I've known this girl for a year now, but I've never really had a long conversation with her. I was just too shy last year...I'm trying to change that but I feel really akward when I talk to her. Part of it's because I have thing for her, and another is I don't know what she wants to talk about...

you can call me a loser (or AFC...) but could someone help me out?? I hate this feeling of helplessness.......and i hate where I stand as far as social skills. I really need help.

"Why Women Dump the Guys Who Try the Hardest"

You paid for dinner. You drove. You said "whatever you want is fine" every single time. All the effort, no expectations.

And she left anyway — probably for a guy who makes her pick up the pizza.

Painful. Also predictable. Her mind quietly concludes that anything requiring zero effort from her is worth exactly zero. You became a free sample, and free samples get taken for granted.

The 22 Rules flip the dynamic. Small shifts that get her investing effort, money, and time in you — until SHE'S the one afraid of losing YOU.

First of all, relax. High school is a tough time for almost everyone, and what you're feeling is no different from what everyone else is feeling, at least to a degree. So you're not alone, not by a long shot.

Finding a topic of mutual interest just requires a little observation. What music does she listen to? Is she a big movie fan, or of a particular movie star? Does she wear something particularly unique, like a fancy pendant or bracelet or something? Has she done any travelling?

People, especially girls, LOVE to talk about themselves. Keep the focus on gently on her and you'll do fine. Besides, you only have to break the ice once, and after that you'll have started a tiny bit of a friendship, which can be foundational.

You may need to do a bit of searching about "converstations" to find stuff, but here's one that may be of some use: http://www.sosuave.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=69553&highlight=conversation

Good luck!

Earth is right. The only thing you need to think about when you talk to this girl is making a connection. The best way to do that is to relate to her when you make convo and keep the conversation focused mainly about her. I mean, don't let her blab on for hours, but girls really do like to talk about themselves most of the time.

The reason you feel awkward around her is because you obviously have a crush on her. You're going to have to set that aside when you talk to her and treat her like you would any other girl because if you don't, you're probably going to get nervous around her. Believe me, no matter how much of a DJ anyone is in here we've all gotten nervous at one time or another. So just don't sweat it and relax.
