And I'll throw Atlantic City in the mix too, Pacific Avenue is ok, not great though. But if you get a few streets off of it, it real bad. Mediterranian ave. is the cheapest space in Monopoly for a reason, apparently.

Detroit, are you guys kidding? Have you been there?
It's got a fantastic music scene (including a world-class symphony orchestra, as well as diverse pop, rock, electronica, rap, and avant-garde acts), world-class museums and tourist attractions, casinos, sports teams that are contending for the championships, universities, and outdoor attractions, including some of the best walleye and musky fishing on the planet right in the city in the Detroit River and nearby in Lake St. Clair and Lake Erie.
And it's dirt cheap. My house payment is $240 per month for a detached house.
Yeah, I know there's a lot wrong with the city: much of it is a cesspool of crime, the economy is rough to say the least, and city government really sucks, but there's also a real lot that's good about it.
Flint, on the other hand, is pretty dire in just about all respects.

We only have 4 or 5 major cities in Australia
and none of them sound as bad as you desribe. i can't imagine how and entire city can be a craphole

new orleans
pittsburg
philadelphia
washington DC
many others.

detroit has the best ruins this side of Rome. 5 story blgs that have been abandoned long ago, crumbling, with TREES GROWING FROM THE INSIDE!
@ lordson...these are all generalizations. every one of those cities is within quite a large metropoliton area, and everyone of them has 'suburb' sprawls that are very nice, $million+ homes. every city has its crapholes. several of the districts of Paris (the ones NOT on the postcards) smell like piss.

I am from NJ and I will have to agree Camden is one of the worst. I got lost in there once and it just looked like the City of Stalingrad after its big battle.
Newark is not completely bad. It is quite nice and safe by the train station. There is the ironbound section there with all of the great Portuguese restaurants.

The best thing to come out of Baltimore was the TV series... and even that was named 'Homicide'.
I've never been to Houston, but apparently it's the ugliest, smoggiest, worst-designed place in the country.

Man, I agree. I was in Camden about 2 weeks ago. Holy sh1t. Every red light I hit I was tempted to run. It looks like the earth swallowed the city and puked it back up.Das said:

Newark. Hands down.
I once got arrested for looking like a criminal there. Apparently some dude with my same jacket robbed a liquor store and I spent the night in jail, after the cops roughed me up some. I didn't even get an apology.
Then there was the time I got attacked by homo thugs (yes they exist) Thankfully they were all drunk and I am a fast runner.
Oh, and what about the time I got stranded in the airport because the ticketing agent screwed up my reservation, and I spent Christmas night sleeping in the airport? That was fun.
Toss in the horrible aesthetics, fowl smell, rampant crime and lack of anything resembling culture and there you have it.. America's sh!ttiest city.
