i heard a really good comparison for girls:
girls are like dogs. what happens when you chase them? they run away. if you run away what happens? they chase you.
i'm not saying to fear them, just ignore them.

Your analogy only holds true to form assuming that you're already being noticed by girls. They'll only chase after you if they are interested.
