An Interview With God
author unknown

I dreamed I had an interview with GOD.

"So, you would like to interview me?" GOD asked.

"If you have time," I said.

GOD smile.

"My time is eternity... what questions do you have in mind for me?"

"What surprises you the most about humankind?"

GOD answered...

"That they get bored with childhood,
that they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again."

"That they lose their health to make money...
and then lose their money to restore their health."

"That by thinking anxiously about the future,
they forget the present, such that they live in neither
the present nor the future."

"That they live as if they would never die,
and die as though they had never lived."

GOD's hand took mine... and we were silent for a while.

And then I asked, "As a parent, what are some of life's
lessons you want your children to learn?"

GOD replied.....

"To learn they cannot make anyone love them.
All they can do is let themselves be loved."

"To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others."

"To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness."

"To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open
profound wounds in those they love, and it can take
many years to heal them."

"To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most,
but is one who needs the least."

"To learn that there are people who love them dearly,
but simply do not yet know how to express or show their
feelings."

"To learn that two people can look at the same thing, and see it differently."

"To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another,
but they must also forgive themselves."

"Thank you for your time," I said humbly.

"Is there anything else you would like your children to know?"

GOD smiled, and said...

"Just know that I am here." "Always."

The Gift of Life

On the very first day, God created the cow. He said to the cow,
"Today I have created you! As a cow, you must go to the field with
the farmer all day long. You will work all day under the sun!
I will give you a life span of 50 years."

The cow objected, "What? This kind of a tough life you want me
to live for 50 years? Let me have 20 years, and the 30 years
I'll give back to you." So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the dog. God said to the dog,
"You are supposed to do is to sit all day by the door
of your house. Any people that come in, you will have
to bark at them! I'll give a life span of 20 years."

The dog objected, "What? All day long to sit by the door?
No way! I give you back my other 10 years of life!"
So God agreed.

On the third day, God created the monkey.
He said to the monkey, "Monkeys have to entertain people.
You've got to make them laugh and do monkey tricks.
I'll give you 20 years life span."

The monkey objected. "What? Make them laugh?
Do monkey faces and tricks?
Ten years will do, and the other 10 years I'll give you back."
So God agreed.

On the fourth day, God created man and said to him,
"Your job is to sleep, eat, and play.
You will enjoy very much in your life.
All you need to do is to enjoy and do nothing.
This kind of life, I'll give you a 20 year life span."

The man objected. "What? Such a good life!
Eat, play, sleep, do nothing?
Enjoy the best and you expect me to live only for 20 years?
No way, man!....Why don't we make a deal?
Since the cow gave you back 30 years, and the dog gave you
back 10 years and the monkey gave you back 10 years,
I will take them from you!

That makes my life span 70 years, right?" So God agreed.

That's why...

In our first 20 years, we eat, sleep, play,
enjoy the best and do nothing much.

For the next 30 years, we work all day long,
suffer and get to support the family.

For the next 10 years, we entertain our grandchildren
by making monkey faces and monkey tricks.

And for the last 10 years, we stay at home, sit by the
front door and bark at people!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
by Brian A. "Drew" Chalker

People always come into your life for a reason, a season and a lifetime.
When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do.

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need
you have expressed ******dly or inwardly. They have come to assist you
through a difficulty, or to provide you with guidance and support,
to aid you physically, emotionally, or even spiritually.
They may seem like a God-send to you, and they are.

They are there for a reason, you need them to be. Then, without any
wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will
say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die, Sometimes they just walk away.
Sometimes they act up or out and force you to take a stand.

What we must realize is that our need has been met,
our desire fulfilled; their work is done. The prayer you sent up
has been answered and it is now time to move on.

When people come into your life for a SEASON, it is because
your turn has come to share, grow, or learn. They may bring you
an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you
something you have never done. They usually give you an
unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it! It is real!
But, only for a season. And like Spring turns to Summer and
Summer to Fall, the season eventually ends.

LIFETIME, relationships teach you a lifetime of lessons;
those things you must build upon in order to have a solid
emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson,
love the person/people (anyway); and put what you have
learned to use in all other relationships and areas in your life.
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being part of my life.....

IS HEAVEN IN THE YELLOW PAGES?
author unknown

Mommy went to Heaven,
but I need her here today,
My tummy hurts and I fell down,
I need her right away.
Operator can you tell me
how to find her in this book?

Is heaven in the yellow part,
I don't know where to look.
I think my daddy needs her too,
at night I hear him cry.
I hear him call her name sometimes,
but I really don't know why.

Maybe if I call her,
she will hurry home to me.
Is Heaven very far away,
is it across the sea?
She's been gone a long, long time
she needs to come home now!

I really need to reach her,
but I simply don't know how.
Help me find the number please,
is it listed under "Heaven"?
I can't read these big, big words,
I am only seven.

I'm sorry operator,
I didn't mean to make you cry,
Is your tummy hurting too,
or is there something in your eye?

If I call my church maybe they will know.
Mommy said when we need help,
that's where we should go.
I found the number to my church
tacked up on the wall.
Thank you operator,
I'll give them a call.

Where are we heading?
Author Unknown

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings,
but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints;
we spend more, but have less; we buy more but enjoy it less.

We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences,
but less time; we have more degrees, but less sense; more knowledge,
but less judgement; more experts, but more problems; more medicine,
but less wellness.

We drink too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast,
get too angry too quickly, stay up too late, get up too tired,
read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.
We've learned how to make a living, but not a life;
We've added years to life, not life to years.
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.

We've conquered outer space, but not inner space;
We've done larger things, but not better things.
We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul;
we've split the atom, but not our prejudice.

We write more, but learn less; we plan more, but
accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait;
we have higher incomes, but, lower morals.
We build more computers to hold more information to
produce more copies than ever, but have less communication;
We've become long on quantity, but short on quality.

These are the days of two incomes, but more divorce;
of fancier houses, but broken homes. These are the days
of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw away morality,
one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do
everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill.

Where are we heading?

Too True, Too Often
Author unknown

Too often we don't realize
What we have until it is gone
Too often we wait too late to say
"I'm sorry - I was wrong."

Sometimes it seems we hurt the ones
We hold dearest to our hearts
And we allow foolish things
To tear our lives apart.

Far too many times we let
Unimportant things into our minds
And then it's usually too late
To see what made us blind.

So be sure that you let people know
How much they mean to you
Take that time to say the words
Before your time is through.

Be sure that you appreciate
Everything you've got
And be thankful for the little things
in life that mean a lot.

A prayer that God may say...No!
Author unknown

I asked God to take away my habit.
God said, No.
It is not for me to take away,
but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my
handicapped child whole.
God said, No.
His spirit is whole,
his body is only temporary

I asked God to grant me patience.
God said, No.
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations;
it isn't granted, it is learned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
God said, No.
I give you blessings;
Happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
God said, No.
Suffering draws you apart
from worldly cares
and brings you closer to me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said, No.
You must grow on your own! ,
but I will prune you
to make you fruitful.

I asked God for all things that
I might enjoy life.
God said, No.
I will give you life,
so that you may enjoy all things.

I ask God to help me LOVE others,
as much as He loves me.
God said...ahhhh, finally -
you have the idea

I am only Seventeen!

Agony claws my mind. I am a statistic.
When I first got here, I felt very much alone.
I was overwhelmed by grief and
I expected to find sympathy.
I found no sympathy.
I saw only thousands of others whose bodies
were as badly mangled as mine.
I was given a number and placed in a category.
The category was called "Traffic Fatalities."

The day I died was an ordinary school day.
How I wish I had taken the bus!
But I was too cool for the bus.
I remember how I wheed led
the car out of mom.
"Special favor," I pleaded.
"All the kids drive."
When the 2:50 p.m. bell rang,
I threw my books in the locker --
free until tomorrow morning.

I ran to the parking lot,
excited at the thought of driving a car
and being my own boss.
It doesn't matter how
the accident happened.
I was goofing off -- going too fast,
taking crazy chances.
But I was enjoying my freedom and
having fun.

The last thing I remember was
passing an old lady who seemed to be
going awfully slow.

I heard a crash and felt a terrific jolt.
Glass and steel flew everywhere.
My whole body seemed to be
turning inside out.

I heard myself scream.
Suddenly, I awakened.
It was very quiet.
A police officer was standing over me.
I saw a doctor. My body was mangled.
I was saturated with blood.

Pieces of jagged glass were sticking
out all over.
Strange that I couldn't feel anything.
Hey, don't pull that sheet over my head.
I can't be dead.

I'm only 17.
I've got a date tonight.
I'm supposed to have a wonderful
life ahead of me. I haven't lived yet.

I can't be dead.

Later I was placed in a drawer.
My folks came to identify me.
Why did they have to see
me like this?

Why did I have to look at mom's eyes
when she faced the most terrible
ordeal of her life?

Dad suddenly looked very old.
He told the man in charge,
"Yes.....he's our son."

The funeral was weird.
I saw all my relatives and friends
walk toward the casket.
They looked at me with the
saddest eyes I've ever seen.

Some of my buddies were crying.
Several girls touched my
hand and sobbed as they walked by.

Please, somebody -- wake me up!
Get me out of here.

I can't bear to see mom and dad
in such pain. My grandparents are
so weak from the grief
they can barely walk.

My brother and sister are like zombies.
They move like robots.

In a daze. No one can believe this.
I can't believe it either.

Please, don't bury me!
I'm not dead!

I have a lot of living to do.
I want to laugh and run again.
I want to sing and dance.

Please don't put me in the ground.
I promise, if you give me just one
more chance God, I'll be the most
careful driver in the whole world.
All I want is one more chance.

Please God, I'm only seventeen!

WHEN YOU THOUGHT I WASN'T LOOKING
(Written by a former child)

A message every adult should read,
because children are watching you and
doing as you do, not as you say.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you hang my first painting
on the refrigerator, and I immediately
wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you feed a stray cat,
and I learned that it was good
to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you make my favorite cake for me
and I learned that the little things
can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I heard you say a prayer, and
I knew there is a God I could always
talk to and I learned to trust in God.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you make a meal and
take it to a friend who was sick,
and I learned that we all have to
help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you give of your time and money
to help people who had nothing and
I learned that those who have something
should give to those who don't.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you take care of our house and
everyone in it and I learned we have to
take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw how you handled your responsibilities,
even when you didn't feel good and
I learned that I would have to be
responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw tears come from your eyes and
I learned that sometimes things hurt,
but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw that you cared and I wanted
to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I learned most of life's lessons that
I need to know to be a good and
productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I looked at you and wanted to say,
"Thanks for all the things I saw
when you thought I wasn't looking."

An angel wrote...

Many people will walk in and out of your life,
but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.

To handle yourself, use your head;
To handle others, use your heart.

Anger is only one letter short of danger.

If someone betrays you once, it's his fault;
if he betrays you twice, it's your fault.

Great minds discuss ideas;
Average minds discuss events;
Small minds discuss people.

God gives every bird it's food,
But He does not throw it into it's nest.

He who loses money, loses much;
He who loses a friend, loses more;
He who loses faith, loses all.

Beautiful young people are acts of nature,
But beautiful old people are works of art.

Learn from the mistakes of others.
You can't live long enough to make them all yourself.

The tongue weighs practically nothing,
but so few people can hold it.

Footprints

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the
beach with the LORD. Across the sky
flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets
of footprints in the sand;
one belonged to him,
and the other to the LORD.

When the last scene of his life flashed
before him, he looked back at the
footprints in the sand. He noticed
that many times along the path
of his life there was only one set
of footprints. He also noticed
that it happened at the very
lowest and saddest times in his life.

This really bothered him and he
questioned the LORD about it.
"LORD, you said that once
I decided to follow you, you'd
walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during
the most troublesome times i
n my life, there is only one
set of footprints. I don't
understand why when I needed
you most you would leave me.

The LORD replied, "My precious, precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."

Life's Reminder...

A long time ago, there was an Emperor who told
his horseman that if he could ride on his horse and cover as much
land area as he likes, then the Emperor would give him the area
of land he has overed.

Sure enough, the horseman quickly jumped onto his horse and
rode as fast as possible to cover as much land area as he could.
He kept on riding and riding, whipping the horse to go as fast
as possible. When he was hungry or tired, he did not stop
because he wanted to cover as much area as possible.

Came to a point when he had covered a substantial area and
he was exhausted and was dying. Then he asked himself,
"Why did I push myself so hard to cover so much land area?
Now I am dying and I only need a very small area to bury myself."

The above story is similar with the journey of our Life.
We push very hard everyday to make more money, to gain power
and recognition. We neglect our health, time with our family and
to appreciate the surrounding beauty and the hobbies we love.

I like it, you could keep a thread devoted to it. I'm not religious at all but I have my own Personal Jesus if you get my drift.

To those who are too cynical to take anything from this thread, just look at it as Charlie from "Charlie and the Chocholate factory" did when it came to candy. - "Candy doesn't have to have a point".

And neither do threads in the "Anything Else" forum. lol

Personally I like it. ^_^ Keep them comming, Hacx!

Some of those stories are very interesting. The religous references aren't needed (you're not the US government, no need to give aid with strings attached!), but otherwise, they're very good stories.

No offense but God doesn't exist. There's is NO EVIDENCE in the bible or anything, cuz the bible is a 2000 year old mythical/fictional book written by 300 ppl. Most of the people who believe in god are brainwashed since birth and didn't get the chance to decide anythin for themselves. Pretty reasonable cuz 50% of U.S. is Christian and relgion is powerful and is woven to society. Ex. Court, Pladge of Alligance and Marriage. But ya Science is the way to go everything is supported by reason, facts and evidence. Only differance between a CULT and a RELIGION is the NUMBER of PEOPLE in it.

There's no evidence that God does exist...

There is no evidence that God does NOT exist....

So the Atheist is as wrong as the Theist.

The only people who are right are the ones who say "well, we just dont know, but we will find out when we die."

^so in that case, it's best to beleive in God to prevent the worse possible outcome after death.
