"How I Made Sure No Woman Ever Friend-Zoned Me Again"

She calls you when her car breaks down. When she needs help moving. When some guy she's actually dating treats her badly.

You're the listener. The reliable one. The guy who would treat her so much better, if she'd just open her eyes.

She won't. You trained her to see you as the low-effort option — the friend who requires zero risk and zero investment. Every favor dug the hole deeper.

The "22 Rules" break the pattern. You'll stop auditioning for a role she already cast and become the man she chases instead. It starts with Rule 1.

Is it practical to break up with her? Maybe.

Many women date bad boys when they have the sexual currency to do so. For 20-year-old girls, ****ing quarterbacks and drug-addled guitarists supercharges their adolescence: popularity by proxy, angry sex, drunken arguments outside of Arbys — followed, of course, by more sex. What’s not to love? (Condoms, that’s what.)

But those bad boys hunger for newer poon. One day, Cheryl’s notices that Chad won’t even finger her behind the IHOP anymore. That day certainly comes by 30 — probably even sooner than that.

So Cheryl starts to veil her sexual obsolescence with phony self-actualization. She becomes a “good girl.” She’s “seen the light” because “those guys don’t care about me like a good guy would.” (Yeah, those guys stopped caring once your joints got too creaky for RCG.)

She messages Bob, a church-going accountant (who’s liked her since high-school), via Facebook. She’ll need a nice guy around while she develops a more lucrative sexual strategy. Kids help secure Bob’s commitment, rationed sex keeps him sufficiently confused, and all the while she’ll tell him that he’s the biggest she’s ever had.

This isn’t all women, but it’s enough of them. Some women meet a man they like at 22 and stick with him; others, who are still good catches at 31, have yet to meet a man whose company they enjoy. Use your judgement.

But if you get the impression that your wife came kicking and screaming from The (Pancake) House of a Thousand Chads, ask yourself why she’s with you in the first place. Watch her attitude. Does she treat sex with you like a chore? Does she frequently refuse? Is she still receptive to the advances of other men? You might just be the end-game of a sexual strategy that, while once fun, had to wind down someday.

Finally, imagine this: if you were as rich now as your wife were beautiful then, would you still be dating her?

"She Wants a Man, Not a Boy"

You asked her if she wanted to grab coffee. Then you asked if the time worked. Then you asked if the place was okay. Then you asked if she'd prefer tea.

Four questions. Four chances for her to say no. Four signals that you're terrified of making a decision.

Plan it. Pick the place. Pick the time. Tell her where to meet you. She'll either show up or she won't.

Either way, you look like a man instead of a scared little boy.
