You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

It's awful if you do it with a girl that's not enthusiastic in the conversation and reserved.
Or if she is sit testing you. If she says "hey do you think it's funny how you talk about xyz?" in an passive-aggressive tone, there is no reason for you to be amused. That's to see if you can assert boundaries.
If the sit test is one you heard several times before and not aggressive, then it is totally fine to react with amusement if you are amused. Or if you can see plain through its purpose haha.
